christfrenzy
for all the kind donations javalui has been getting, i think the least he could do is to keep us updated. come on, in the outside world, every organization keeps their sponsors updated of their event happenings.. it's really not right to keep everyone waiting like this. if the driver is not working, i think we would all appreciate him telling us instead of keeping quiet for so long! just look at all the frustration he's causing! give him the respect? what respect is he giving us? i'll respect you if you keep us updated, javalui. thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/84072-intel-wireless-2100-2200bg-2915bg-3945abg-4965agn/page/122/#findComment-979195 Share on other sites

MACOX
Friends, I believe: He needs the hardware itself. He needs developers, who can write the code. If he has the hardware he can test it himself. He does not need testers. He needs people who can fix the errors. If we're doing anything else, we're just wasting ink. We can always wait, on the other hand replacing the card with Broadcom 43xx (Dell DW 1490), would be a sure shot option. It's just a matter of choice. poppaman2
Hey guys... I was wondering if there was any movement on a 3945 driver... I'm not a coder, so I can't offer any development help, but whatever I might be able to do to assist, let me know.... Poppaman2 Sorry guys, for some reasi=on, I did not see the recent posts here... kecionur
one hour ago i bought a D-link DWA-110 USB wireless adapter from an oem store. now i'm connected internet with it. if you don't wanna wait for the 3945abg drivers you just have to spend 20 dollars and a hour. just put the driver cd, install 10.4.x driver package restart and you're done. works great with kalyway 10.5.2 vanilla. just a recommendation for your mac love and nervous system health leave this jalavoi guy free. MACOX
So you mean , he is one of us a user. I don't know Krrr, but perhaps he's short of time to write a driver. Meanwhile a lot of people have replaced the hardware itself to some Mac compatible one. That does really saves time as kecionur said. It's actually not a very practical idea to have a semi-fucnctional system just because we don't have the drivers. Rebooting into another OS just because Mac can not connect to the world, really kills most of it's productivity. I run XP for that purpose because Mac is virtually disconnected from the world. Solution is, just replace the hardware or change the OS. If you're a Microsoft rival, Linux would be the bet, or Vista and Mac could go hand in hand. junster90
12 months ago: Waiting for 3945 driver. 6 months ago: Bought a D-link USB wifi. Today: Thank God for what i did 6 months ago. For those who cannot wait for the driver, seriously, go get a USB wifi adapter. At least to temporarily provide you wifi access, then switch to the iwi drivers when they are done. Anyways thanks for all your dedication Jalavoui, and also to the rest of the dev team. Good luck! Still hoping to see the iwi3945 working. Firemac
Cheap wifi "N" USB Adapter - can get it at Fry's It's on sale often, or find it cheap online Airlink awll6070 working driver for MAC OS X FOUND. It's the same driver for the Edimax EW-7718Un, go to the sight download the driver and it should work, it did for me. You may have to configure in System Preferences (I can't offer more help than that). 1. Download & Install 2. Reboot 3. (just after rebooting) click on Ralink icon in dock to setup Note: I had to tinker with Network Settings in System Preferences to get it working Everyone at Insanely MAC has been so helpful, thank you so much , and I'm glad I can give back http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.ph...1&pl2_id=44 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/84072-intel-wireless-2100-2200bg-2915bg-3945abg-4965agn/page/122/#findComment-988478 Share on other sites
GAOO
Hi jalavoui, I followed the tutorial on http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...rt=#entry925693 to test my Intel Wifi 4965agn and posted my result on that thread. The result is minimally successful, I was able to use the networkSelector program to turn on the wifi card, and scan for the available networks. But when I try to associate with one, it only says "trying to associate" then returns to the menu. No internet accessibility afterwards (pinged my router and it's 100% loss). I'm a pretty proficient programmer but I haven't done any driver development before. I would be interested in helping you to develop this driver, but any suggestions on how/where to start? Such as what topics I should be familiar with before I attempt to make changes. Feel free to contact me, thanks. as soon as i get i laptop that is good for making the drivers i'll update this thread and iwidarwin i don't know when the drivers will be ready... thanks for helping driver status: iwi2100/2200 working need to fix some bugs iwi3945/4965 don't work need other developers to look at old code and try to fix it i'd really like to see some developer work in this thread Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/84072-intel-wireless-2100-2200bg-2915bg-3945abg-4965agn/page/122/#findComment-988528 Share on other sites
faw
hi, i was looking for a solution for this wireless stuff, and found a solution that might be handy, virtualization check out "vmware fusion", its not a driver for 3945 and 4965 wifi cards, but it lets xp run under os x, they both work at the same time, and a good thing about that is that you can run the windows programs you like in os x, it lets hardware with out mac drivers to run under mac os (in xp actually but in os x screen, not xp) check it out for yourselves, worked for me, you can play direct x 9 games in os x too btw but made my notebook a little slow (fujitsu siemens amilo pi 1556 with intel 1.83 dual core, 1 gb ram, 256 mb geforge go 7600) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/84072-intel-wireless-2100-2200bg-2915bg-3945abg-4965agn/page/122/#findComment-989306 Share on other sites
MACOX
For that to run efficiently, at least 3gb of ram is required. Mac eats up 2gb of ram within minutes. In that sense it resemble Vista, but if we assume that Leopard is not that graphics hungry, still it requires a minimum of 1Gb ram to run. Perhaps it's the redundant machine code? I wonder how people render 3D graphics on Mac and how much ram do they require! I wonder how people render 3D graphics on Mac and how much ram do they require! I render 3D graphics under mac os as efficently as under xp (with the same hardware and software). And leopard uses about 600 MB of ram after running for hours. The amount of "inactive" memory increase rapidly, but as far as know this is only cached ram, usable by any process, it is there only to speed up an application that has been launched before. The memory and performance issues that may occur testing those non working driver can be due to logging or a possible memory leak. 3945 and 4965 driver are work in progress, aren't they ? Guest undefined
I guess there's absolutely no progress on the driver whatsoever, we would certainly hear about it! About the virtualization, AFAIK, virtual machines use hardware only that's operative in host system. You can pass USB devices directly to your virtual system, but I don't think you could pass any PCI cards that weren't recognized by computer in first place.
