DUDE. YOU'RE HERE TOO? (or are you another prinnybaal?) Let's join forces to get this 4965 to work. I have one too, but I quickly replaced Leopard with Ubuntu due to lack of hardware support. ]:

But I have a spare drive now, so I can test again. Installing Leopard now. I'm your man, what are my orders? o;

Heh, sorry.. odds are i'm not the same guy.

Also, i've been bad, and haven't checked this thread in a week.. congrats to jalavoui for the 2100/2200!

Hey! I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but... How about the 'Intel WiFi Link 5300' 802.11 a/b/g/n 450Mbit wireless module??

it's a part of the new Centrino 2 platform (montevina)..

I'm now running a Centrino 2 platform notebook with 10.5.4 (with Vanilla 9.4.0), but unfortunately the WLAN doesn't work..

the card shoud work fine

can you attach your ioreg?

type in console ioreg -lw 0

At this point, I'm beginning to suspect it might be an issue with my hardware since others are having success with iwi2200 on 10.5, but not me. I'll try your command next time I'm able, but otherwise I might have to work on finding a different laptop (I've tried multiple different iwi2200 cards and none are working, so might be a wireless controller or mobo problem)... Thanks again for everyone's efforts on this, I've actually tried loading various other Linux flavors on a different machine again, and really nothing stacks up to everything I like about OSx86, so I am very happy to keep pursuing this project even if it is quite a bit more work!

just received the 3945 and 4965 cards chico send me

they are either broken or don't work with my computer (hp g7000)

after plug the card the computer power on them off

if it power on them it locks (no bios access)

thanks

airborne i have the same problem as you. i do verbose boot for my 10.5.2 kalyway install w/speedstep kernel on my thinkpad t42 and i can see an error message about iwi2200.kext everytime (cannot resolve dependencies for kernel extensions: S/L/E/iwi2200.kext). I get the error code 2 thing when I try to run networkselector, and kextstat | grep iwi returns nothing, so i am assuming the kext is not properly loaded.

i have no idea what im talking about, but i think this has something to do with the fact that the wifi card not being turned on when booting up OSX. i dont see the led indicator lighting up. the reason i believe this is because my bluetooth is turned off by default; on my thinkpad both wifi and bluetooth are turned on/off with the FN+F5 keys. i tried turning them on when i was in osx, but fn+f5 had no effect. then i tried sudo kextload s/l/e/iwi2200.kext in terminal, and suddenly my bluetooth led lit up and bluetooth was detected by the OS and installed. after i did the kextload command, i can turn my bluetooth on/off with fn+f5, but wifi is still undetected by os. i don't know where to go from here.

hope that helps someone in some way to troubleshoot this.

my laptop has a 1.7ghz pentium M cpu, and whatever mobo comes with a t42. i have 1gb of ram and a radeon 7500 video card.

Hi Jalavoui,

same problem with my Packard Bell Easynote M67-P007. If I change Wireless Card from 3945 to Broadcom cheapset (tried with original MacPro Airport Card and Toshiba Card) it locks. If I power on my computer WITHOUT card it go fine and when i'm making "hot-plug" with the broadcom card, Leopard freeze... I'm thinking there's conflict between this card and other components in computer (maybe touchpad SYnaptics...)

By now, I've changing card for Atheros Chipset and everything work fine...

I'm safe but I hope you'll find solutions for other people... but thanks for your determination.

Benny

PS : Sorry for my poor english ;o)

what are the odds for two broken cards?? thnik maybe is a bios lock or firmware thing

I think so too, I tried my 3945 card on an hp 530 (not that its the same pc) and it didnt work, it says card not supported and the BCM43XX(i think) from the hp works fine. All the best

hard to tell, the 4965 seem to be the default card for the hp model even if g7000 is a series and on the hp site there are more than 80 models. i know (readed on a site of a seller) that intel cards works only with intel chipsets while hp's using ati use the broadcom wireless (not 100% sure of course)

May be that your pci-e slot has gone? may be a bios lock? owners of hp models may know

Try ask chico where he got those cards, if he got it from a trash or from broken notebooks, i work with notebooks everyday and i've seen failures of any kind, but i don't remember of a broken wireless lan card

good luck!!

I think I once saw a solution to that. I'll search for it

EDIT:

Think I've found the solution. You have to flash your BIOS with a custom made. http://www.rechner.org/b1800_bios.html I hope that this is the right manual.

This is another manual: http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~mjg59/thinkpad/bios.html The procedure is nearly the same.

Jalavoui, last time you said you are from Portugal "chico will send me the card from portugal (my home)". Can you be more specific of whitch part of portugal you are? Im from portugal and i can land you my laptop if you want. Thanks

yep, the macbook as the same bios protection

if the cards are ok (i believe so)

i'll patch the hp g7000 bios with the vendor/id of iwi3945/4965

if i manage to do this i can make the drivers work ;)

and i'll trash that bcm43xx card from the hp

i'm in portugal - funchal

i think chico got this cards from acer computers

from what i read all it takes is a bios image file and a search for the original vendor/id of the facory wireless

them replace with other vendor/id

maybe i can add something like 8086ffff to work for all intel cards

i think this will work for other laptops too

anyone as tried this? i'd like to share this howto

All sorts of info and howto's for removing the whitelist from the HP Bios(I've not done it myself, as you are still working on the 4965 I have), but I have modded my F.53 bios with Phenix Bios Editor(OverClocked my 8400m GS) You'll need XP or Vista, but it does work.

Thanks for continuing to work on this,(If I were not so lazzy I'd have a look at your Code and see if I could help) :hysterical:

i need help on this:

all hp g7000 laptop family use the same bios update

the f.33 bios version installer came with a compressed firmware device (.fd) file

this file is patched to bios using insydeflash.exe

i need to find a way to extract the .fd file or get a .rom bios file to hack the wireless list

the f.31 bios update works but it includes a .fd file also

maybe someone already as a .rom file for the g7000 that works

please help

i can't write the code for the drivers until i fix this
