Noel2008
I have an M1530 however it uses 9228 for audio so you might want to try this kext http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=30865 it's linked in the first page of this thread. As for the wireless there is no solution currently for it so you'll have to do without it or grab another card like the Dell 1370 off ebay. Didn't work for either, still no sound I copied the kext into the extensions folders and repaired permissions is anything else necessary? overshoot
Hello all, I'm not new in the Hackintosh world. I started installing my first Tiger on a Pentium 4 Pc when the first Dev released was out. I had since a PowerBook G4 and for now a MacBook. For silly reasons i decided to bought an Xps1530 instead of a MacBook Pro (money, money, money...) and here is my story with it. I've downloaded the Leo4allv2 and installed successfully with the 9.2 Toh kernel (Netkas one apparently). I then get my 8600m Gt working with the Plist file coming from DevilHood (thanks to him). But i'm a bit stuck now. First, i would like to thank you all of you (gurus and developpers especially) for giving us the possibility to run Leopard and Tiger on Pcs. You do a great job and it's good to see how people can share. Last, if someone could explain me or point to the good topic for how to upgrade my system to 10.5.4. I tried many times last night but without any success. I took the Macos combo upgrade pkg from the Jas Dvd, removed the AppleIntelCPU... kext and was unable to boot. No kernel panics but start process blocked after some lines. I suspect the kernel to be wrong but i can't be sure. Perhaps someone can tell me what kernel to use with Xps 1530 (2,5Ghz C2D) after 10.5.4 update. Will i be able to get sleep working with it? If you have more advice to tell me, do not hesitate, i would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. chris512
Overshoot, I have an XPS 1530 2.5 and I used iAtkos v4i. This is already 10.5.4. It uses the vanilla kernel too. No messing about with updates from 10.5.2 then. Otherwise, the Kalyway or JaS 10.5.3 combo updates will get you to 10.5.3 easily. There are links on here somewhere to get from there to 10.5.4. It just a matter of updating through Apple update then to get to 10.5.4 if you are using the Vanilla kernel. Make sure to read the instructions when using the Kalyway update. Something about typing "Update -v" at the Darwin prompt after installing....... Hope this helps. overshoot
Hello Chris512, Every answers helps especially this one. I will get iatkos v4i. Another question: I saw that you're using Nvkush to get your GeForce working. When i tried with the 10.5.2 nvidia kexts and the DevilHood Efi string file i was able to get Qe/Ci working well but sleep was not working for the screen. Does Nvkush makes a difference with sleep?... or perhaps i was wrong with my 10.5.2 configuration. Do you advice Efi string or Nvkush? Thanks. chris512
Overshoot, I just installed nvkush. The nvinject package in Sonotones installer works just as well though. I could be wrong but I thought you needed efi strings for dual monitors. I don't use an external screen so I didn't use an efi string. Try removing nvinject from your Extensions folder and then use the Sonotone installer to get the graphics card working. It gave me full resolution including QI/CI...... If you're not sure how to delete kexts you can get OSX86Tools and use that. There's an option to Remove all injectors. This will remove them all though including sound.... If you want to sleep the screen then you can set up a hot corner in Expose. Otherwise I can't get to System Sleep to work at all and I'm fed up of trying. It just restarts my machine instead of sleeping and I can't seem to find a fix. bryce00741
I tried adding those kexts that you told me to. It kept saying that I don't have proper permission to add the kext. When I reboot, it says that the kexts weren't installed properly. Then I tried the New update for the Dell installer. I installed the audio driver and the HDAenabler fix, and still I have no sound at all, and the media buttons for sound just show the mute symbol when i press them. Please help. Thanks. overshoot
Chirs512, I'm in progress but my big problem now is sleep, and as i read, i've got the same issue as you. Even if i use an Efi string i can't get sleep to work. My system reboot like yours. Also, it's strange to see that only downgrading the Nvidia kext to 10.5.2 and adding an Efi string stuck my system at reboot. For now, my config is clean, no injectors. Fresh iAtkos base installation with only the Efi string and 10.5.2 kext, no patches and i can say that the system is working well. I will try to make my sound card, the 2 finger scrolling (hard to say i will loose this functionnality which was very helpful on my Macbook) and the finger print scanner working for the next days. Finally, i will also have to find an ethernet adapter that works in Leopard cause i will have to use my hackintosh at work and it's worth to not being able to be connected to the lan network... Thanks a lot Chris512 for your help. chris512
Overshoot, Try this ethernet adaptor. It works and it's Apple.... http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB442Z/A...mp;mco=Mjg4NzM4 I tried playing with the 2 finger scrolling too, it worked but not that well. I'll give it another go when I have more time. Kokoro, I tried all of the sleep fixes from Sonotones package. The one in .35b worked but then my USB stopped working and the sleep fixes from 1.1 and 1.2 just make my machine restart rather than sleep. I'm using Vanilla Kernel too but have a different graphics card. Maybe that's why? And it's too lousy, definitely making you missing a real macbook touch pad. For the sleep fix, I am also using the one from .35b. Now that you found it working, I don't think your situation is that much different from mine. You may try to see if your USB will work by plug in the USB devices before startup. If it works, then it's more likely a kernel or installation problem. I would suggest the JAS 10.5.4 for M1530, for I find it more stable and reliable in some ways. With JAS, almost everything works for me, sleep, QE/CI, USB, sound and even the time machine. Simply select vanilla and NVkush in the install options, and fix the sleep and the sound with the .35b Sonostones package after the installation. That's all, except that the JAS doesn't come with the ApplePS2Controller.kext, so the inner keyboard and touch pad won't work out of the box. You have to use a USB keyboard first or find a way to intall the PS2 kext. rudefyet
Is anyones 8400M OpenGL performance as pathetic as mine? With Cinebench I'm only getting about 750 for the OpenGL score, that's dead even with what my GMA 950 used to get. QE/CI are working fine. For reference under Windows my Cinebench score is over 2000. larrybird
I saw in a topic about the EFI-X that it is possible to shutdown and restart with the graphics drivers loaded. I'm wondering if anyone is aware of this working for our laptops (or specifically XPS m1330) and if it does, is it fair to assume that it would also work using the boot-132 bit? Speaking of boot-132, has anyone created an image for Dells and the XPS laptop lines? Cheers. dantastic
Sound problems with xps m1530. I re-installed my lappy a while back, running everything as vanilla as possible. I installed at the time the AppleHDA.kext with mute fix. Was working perfectly! - then a week or so later it just stopped working. When I say it stopped I mean that after rebooting there's no sound. I have sound sometimes, maybe after 1 out of 5 reboots and sound is back. I have tried to re-install the kext, repair permissions, all tricks of the trade but I could not get consistent behavour. I have now reverted back to using taruga's patcher and sound is working again. However, I can't get mute and the volume difference between speakers and headphones' just massive. Is there any way I can grab the volume bits from the patched AppleHDA kext and insert it into my kext that is somewhat working? Have anyone else had this issue? Maybe able to identify what I could have installed that made sound go belly up? I have read the sticky that sound is somewhat experimental but damnit I had it working and I don't know how I broke it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83039-compilation-dell-xps-m1330-m1530-vostro-1400-1700-inspiron-1420-1520-1720/page/85/#findComment-890207 Share on other sites
chopsueysensei
Hi all. I'm quite new to this Hackintosh world, but I'm making some progress already. However I would appreciate some help: I installed from Kalyway's disc, and used sonotone's package 1.2 and, after much trial&error I managed to get most of it to work. Main issues that remain, I hope someone can give a clue: - Reboot, shutdown & sleep don't work. Seems to be a known issue having to do with graphics, but maybe somebody knows something else? - Graphics work at native res. (1440x900) but according to system properties I have no QE/CI (which means no accel. right?). People mentioned that the sonotone's installer is supposed to make this work, but this is not my case. - The one that bothers me the most: My hard drive is acting up a bit. It seems to 'freeze' every now and then. Seems to happen more when doing disk intensive operations (i.e. copying), and usually lasts for about 15/20 secs. then keeps going normally. I have noticed a 'parking' noise when the freeze happens (like if the heads were parked for a while, then unparked, I hope you know what I mean). This is really annoying and makes my whole installation kinda useless and slow. I read something about an app called hdapm, I will give it a try. I really need to fix this! Some info about my hardware: Dell Inspiron 1520 installed through Kalyway 10.5.2 and updated to 10.5.3 with his update pack. Intel Core2Duo T7100 processors @ 1.80 GHz Video: GeForce 8600M GT 512Mb HD: Toshiba MK1637GS Audio: Sigmatel STAC9205 Thanks for the great work. I hope you can help me in my quest for an MS-free lappy. See ya. overshoot
Hi All, I'm back again. My XPS 1530 system is working pretty well but i've got many kernel panics so, at work, it's bit annoying.
