  1. I've never even used Chameleon, I'll have to do some reading. I'm ordering a 320gb 7200rpm for my M1330, 250gb isn't quite enough room. I also want to do a vanilla install, cause I've heard it's the easiest way to upgrade to newer versions. -Bryce
  2. Well I thought the problem was with chain0, but that still didn't fix it. So anyway, I think I've given up. I'm gonna format my drive, and try a Windows 7 and Snow Leopard Dual boot. Thanks for your help -Bryce
  3. Ok, I'm gonna try burning with Nero first, a few people online have had success with it. I do have a friend that I can get to burn it off his Mac also. I'll post back with my results. Thanks again! EDIT: Burning with Nero didn't work either. I also tried burning it from a mac, and my laptop still wouldn't boot to the disk. I guess I could take my hard drive out of the laptop and try using diskwarrior from my desktop with is running 10.5.2, and use diskwarrior from there. Would that be safe to do? EDIT 2: So I Plugged my laptop hard drive into my desktop pc which is running 10.5.2, and I ran DiskWarrior on the partition from there. However it did come to an error at the end of the DiskWarrior repair. So i plugged it into my laptop anyway to try it out. When I boot to the OSX partition, it says "Chain Boot Error", and that's it. So I booted to my iatkos 4 dvd again and tried the repair through disk utility. This time, it was able to successfully repair the partition, however I still get the same message when I try to boot to it, "Chain Boot Error". Any ideas? Thanks. -Bryce
  4. I tried burning diskwarrior again with poweriso, magicIso, IMG burn, and it still won't boot to the disk. Is there a command similar to -s that I can use to boot from the DVD?
  5. I got Disk Warrior, then converted it to an ISO, and burned it to a disk, but It won't let me boot to it. How do I run it? Is there a command similar to -s that I can use to run the CD? I think I'm gonna try an alternate way of burning the DVD. Thanks again for all your help! EDIT: I'm trying a different version of diskwarrior, hope it works! EDIT 2: Nope it still didn't work. The file is originally a .toast file, but they don't have toast for pc, so I again tried changing the filename to .iso and burn with img burn. But it still won't boot to the disk. -Bryce
  6. I tried booting with -x option, but it just takes me to the same place, with the grey apple screen and the wheel turning. After about 2 minutes, it just turns off. Where do I type the "diskutil repairPermissions /" at? I also tried this when it asked for boot options: "-x diskutil repairPermissions /", and it did the same thing, and shut down. I just ran the "verify disk" from the disk utility from the iatkos 4 dvd again, and here is what it says: (let me know if you want me to just post the thinks, to take up less space)
  7. Hey guys. I haven't posted here in a while, because my system has been running very stable for quite some time. Anyway, I was running iatkos 10.5.4 on my Dell XPS. So here's what happened, one day I was using OSX, and my comp froze, so I had to hold the power button to turn it off. Then I turned it back on, and got no video. Well I called Dell, and it ended up being a dying motherboard. Before it got fixed, I kept trying to turn it on, because every once in a while I'd get lucky and be able to see video output. So I did end up holding the power button to turn it off, probably about 7-8 times before I gave up and had Dell repair it. Anyway, now when I boot up, it goes the gray apple logo with the spinning wheel, and just sits there (BTW, it did this before and after the motherboard was replaced). Or sometimes it starts out that way, then the background turns blue, and the wheel just spins and doesn't boot. I've already tried booting to my iatkos v4 disk, and using the disk utillity to repair permissions, and run the "repair drive", which failed. Does anyone know how I can get this to boot properly without loosing any data? Thanks for your time. -Bryce
  8. Has anyone had problems with slow usb transfers on the m1330? My transfers to USB flash drives and external hard drives is extremely slow, less than 1MB/sec. I've searched online and found this thread, but it didn't say it had a fix for 10.5.4: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...9&start=400 I did install a NTFS for mac program so that I could transfer to my NTFS drives. The slow transfer is for all devices, FAT32 and NTFS. Anyone have a similar problem?
  9. Thanks for the quick responses. I tried insomnia, very useful program however it didn't solve my problem. When I connect my monitor via HDMI to DVI, the picture looks low quality. It looks about the same quality is when I boot to vista and connect the monitor without closing the lid. However in Vista when I close the lid, it turns off the laptop screen and then adjusts the monitor to look perfect. I havn't tried the mirroring kext yet. Can you post a link to where I can get it? I searched this thread and couldn't find it. Thanks again!
  10. Is there a way to toggle the clam shell sleep on and off? I ask because I want to close the lid and just work off of my monitor. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
  11. [GUIDE] Leopard on an XPS 1330/1530

I just want to double check before I do anything to screw my OSX up. I currently am running iatkos 10.5.4 and want to upgrade to 10.5.6. So I can use the normal software update through leopard and then follow the update instructions in this guide? Also, is it worth it in the long run for me to do a vanilla install? Thanks!
  12. When I first installed OSX, I didn't think I would use it often, but now it is all I use. So I only created the partition to be 40 gb and 200gb for the vista partition. Does anyone know of a safe way to add space to the OSX partition without loosing any data? Thank you so much.
  13. It turns out that VLC player was causing the laggy sound. So now I'm using Divx Player instead and .avi files no longer lag. I downloaded Perian for Quicktime to support more codecs but it still doesn't support WMV. Thanks for everyones help, I think I am set now!
  14. I don't know if you guys were talking to me, but I tried the lid sleep anyway. I didn't fix the problem. I've noticed that when I watch dvd quality movies, i only get audio lag. But when I do 1080p playback, I get audio and video lag. I hope someone can help. Thanks!
