cyrusuncc
Ok, lets start with a little background information: Computer: Compaq X1000 laptop (SSE2 only) Tried installing the 10.4.3 DVD with Jas patch to no avail. It would start with the apple logo, then go to an error message saying the computer needed to reboot. Using various boot switches had no positive results. Gave up and installed 10.4.1 by DD'ing the image to a new partition and using chain0 to dual boot with Windows XP. All is fine and well on OSX 10.4.1 except iTunes. When i click on the iTunes icon, it'll hop, but never load. I've tried: ------------------- 1. installing Maxxuss Mac OS X SSE3 Runtime Patcher & Emulator v0.5 - resulted in non booting OSX. Had to DD the image over again. 2. installing "universal" iTunes package found in forums - didn't work 3. installing new iTunes from apple.com - same results - didn't work I really would like iTunes to work. My sound works fine as i can play mp3's in Quicktime... Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8254-itunes-on-1041/ Share on other sites

LlamaGuy
Go to maxxuss' website and download the SSE3->SSE2 patch. Follow the instructions he gives and answer y, y, 2, y to the questions. jbjonas
i tried it and iTunes still doesn't work.... have you attempted to run it with rosetta? in Apps folder, right click on iTunes, and Get Info. If available, check the 'open using rosetta' option. I think this is what i did in 10.4.1 to make it work before going to 10.4.3 Good Luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8254-itunes-on-1041/#findComment-54572 Share on other sites
krauli
in my 10.4.1 i dont have that option.. what is wrong?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8254-itunes-on-1041/#findComment-54615 Share on other sites
jbjonas
Maybe I'm mistaken about using that on iTunes In my experience only some applications will give you the option to use rosetta in the info screen I guess they must be ppc apps. jfn
The version of iTunes included in 10.4.1 was PPC-only, I believe - that's why there was no Rosetta option. It had to open in Rosetta. Upgrading to 10.4.3 is certainly worth it anyways (for anyone else with this problem). aPpLeFrEaKpEePs
Hey i have the solution to your problem!! All replies above are {censored} and u wont get anywhere near running itunes using them.. this is the real solution... If you installed from "tiger-x86-flat.img" you have this problem. It's because that image has had SSE3 support patched-out. The file patched-out is called CoreGraphics. Find an untouched version of the "CoreGraphics" file, unrar it and put it on your OSX86 Mac. Rename the CoreGraphics file to CoreGraphics.bak Move the file (CoreGraphics.bak) to: /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A Go into Terminal, type "cd /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A" , then type: chmod 755 CoreGraphics.bak - Hit "ENTER." sudo chown root:wheel CoreGraphics.bak - Hit "ENTER." sudo mv CoreGraphics CoreGraphics.i386 - Hit "ENTER." sudo mv CoreGraphics.bak CoreGraphics - Hit "ENTER." Okay, now just reboot your computer! After reboot, you computer will have better graphics, and will be able to run PowerPC applications including iTunes and DVD player.. I have the core graphics file(2.55 MB) with me.. mail me at f2005180@bits-pilani.ac.in and i will send it 2 u.. AND THIS WORKS 100%...
