Megamixman
Look into an 8600GT or so. Drivers from 10.5.2 seem to work for it. There is a full thread on this and its a good card. Good choice on Mobo,CPU,Memory, and PSU. People skimp on PSU and then pay for it. But they never realize its their PSU. Otherwise you're build looks pretty solid. Georgiles
I received the parts and I assembled the computer. POWER! To be able to follow weaksauce's guide I need the Leopard original disk. I'm still 50% on my way to the store. I will get it soon. In the mean time I tried Kalyway and TOH RC2 versions and with both I get a weird thing. The computer boots ok and after a while, before getting to the arrow/selection screen, SHUTS DOWN. I thought it is a hrdware problem so I went ahead and installed UPHUCK 1.3 (worked without problems, see the XBench results attached). What could be the problem? Thoughts? jpsiemer
I got the same exact setup as you -- no lie... same EXACT acessories, except I have the Q6700 and 8GB of RAM. My system works 100% on iATKOS. It was acting funky the first couple of boots, but I ran a couple updates from Apple and I have been experiencing less and less problems as time goes on. The only patch I did was the audio and I haven't touched any of the system's files. It's as if the OS is fixing itself over time? Hahah, not sure but anyways you should have a nice stable setup there for Leopard! weaksauce12
I am compiling a list of known, working video cards on the Intel Bad Axe 2. There is a lot of variation when it comes to video cards and actually getting them to work. If you have a BA2 board, please post the Brand/Model of Video Card you are using, along with exactly what software. For example, "PNY 256mb 7300GT - NVinject 1.6". I will add this to the first post of this thread so that people can pick and choose a compatible card and get the correct software more easily. Thanks! tuukka H
I also ordered today all these same components.. Shame that this badaxe is old board and wont understand newer coming up processors.. But maybe that q6600 is enought for few years. That linkwolrf case is cool but why there is that floppy drive bay..? Who needs that. It could be much cooler if you buy aluminium net (maybe that what people use when tuning car bumpers) and fix the front. But thanks for sharing your setup. Alessandro17
I have a very similar setup. Same mobo, same CPU, XFX 7900GT. I didn't need any guide to install iATKOS or Kalyway. Only, if you use iATKOS, read their readme very carefully. If you use Kalyway customize the install with a lot of good common sense. I went for Kalyway in the end, it worked smoother. I used Natit for my GPU, it seemed to work the best. The sound problem was solved with this how to: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...95&hl=sound However keep in mind that the Bad Axe 2 use 2 different sound cards. Georgiles
My copy of Leopard got lost so I ended up using Kalyway installed on separate ATA hdd. Installed the original update 10.5.1 over. I used weksause's sound driver and some of his instructions in terminal. I did not test the sound input yet. TOO BUSY. This system flies, I would definitely recommend his quad core setup. What does not work: In System Preferences --> Network shows Cable Unplugged. If I refresh the connection by selecting BootP at CONFIGURE and back to DHCP then it gets the connection and the internet works. So I need to refresh the network everytime I start the computer. It still shows CABLE UNPLUGGED but the internet works, the newtork light blinks properly. Any ideas how do I solve this problem? How do I trick the computer to say in there: CONECTED ... currently active instead of cable unplugged? UPDATE: Now the network works perfect. 1. Booted in windows and updated the latest bios. 2. I extracted the 10.4.9 IOFamilyNetworking.kext (find it attached to download here) 3. I copied it in System/Library/Extensions folder 4. Open Terminal sudo -s enter your password chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions 5. Open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions again to make sure 6. restart and voila. Georgiles
SWEET! THANKS FOR THE FIX i assume this fix is working for you still? My HackPro works perfectly, yes, super stable. Onboard sound output works. I did not test Mic INPUT nor the other 4 SATA as I do not need them now. When I will need the extra SATA I'm sure the kext will be out there. I got myself for sound this for $270: http://www.zzounds.com/item--PHOH12FWMKII Otherwise Windows Sucks, but I have paralells installed and i run windows aps directly from mac without restart when i need it. UPDATE: jul/4/08 the system still works perfectly. AlienSpice
Hello Georgiles! I can't understand your guide... it's only about me...I'm a noob... Georgiles
Hello Georgiles!I can't understand your guide... it's only about me...I'm a noob... You use a bios and guides about a gigabyte MoBo to install on an Intel MoBo? I've understood it correctly? Hi, First of all, I see that you have the BadAxe2 board. If you read the first post, I state that I switched the BadAxe2 with a Gigabyte (look at the hardware in my signature and click on the links.) BadAxe 2 was a great board for Leopard. I consider it now obsolete. If you google "convertittomac" you are going to find a website with a guy that was banned from insanelymac. The claim they have a working installer for Bad Axe2 on Leopard, but they were asking me for money in order to give me the download links. F... that. And their guide is awful. My advise to you is to sell your motherboard on ebay (I got for it $30) that's how much is worth it. Then buy a gigabyte board. Look in two places and choose a board that is supported by both websites below: 1: on cartri website here see the boards supported (also cartri on insanelymac here) 2: on Kakewalk website here and match with one of his boards (kakewalk on insanelymac here) I would choose one of these two boards: Gigabyte EP45-UD3P v1.6 (the board I have) I would use Kakewalk instaler and then update to Cartri MacBios Gigabyte EP45-DS3L (the board BlackOS have GUIDE HERE TOO) Note: seems like UD3P & DS3L are hard to find. Not one board on ebay right now. Amazon & Newegg don'r sell them anymore. God Luck finding one. Luck! You have many options. Again, match a board supported by Kakewalk and Cartri and trash that BadAxe2. Cheers!
