turly
ls8 - first, thanks muchly for a superb kit. Much obliged. However, I'm with Professor above - it took me three attempts to get past the whole dog/cat thing in addition to the making you wait a minute. mediafire is so much more user-friendly that I'm at a complete loss why anyone would use CrappyShare :-) But I don't mean to harp on: this is a completely minor point -- your install kit is the mutt's nads as we say in this part of the world. To further reinforce SicilyOSx86's post above, the EFI String Creator tool mentioned in the following post http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,64.60.html is excellent. Be warned it will silently fail to write to the com.apple.Boot.plist if that file has been modified in any way .. at least it failed for me (I have a timeout in there to allow me to choose a boot partition.) What I did was to use the EFI String Creator tool to get the hex string for my 8600 GT 512MB into the clipboard, then on Terminal, edit /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist then scroll to the bottom two lines - they should be </dict> </plist> Just above these lines, insert the following <key>device-properties</key> <string>PASTE-CLIPBOARD-HEX-STRING-HERE</string> Note that that hex string will likely be very long - 1000 characters or so. (And since we mentioned timeouts, if you want a boot timeout to allow you to choose a boot disk, you can also insert <key>Timeout</key> <string>4</string> replacing "4" with the number of seconds that works for you.) LS8
You don't have to edit the script. Unzip the archive anywhere (yes, even on the desktop), run Terminal, 'cd' to the folder where you unpacked it, and enter ./pre-patch.sh MacOS Make sure you have only one partition that includes "MacOS" in its name. If the disk contains more than one partition, then unmount all partitions except MacOS before running the ./pre-patch Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/77165-ls8v17-mac-os-x-1057-ga-p35-ds4-ga-ep45-dq6/page/27/#findComment-763399 Share on other sites

josgraha
just a note, maybe this has already been mention. After 10.5.3 update, using the NVKush works great for NV 8800 GTS, i didn't have any QE / hardware accel on video after update. I installed the package and then removed my NVInject.kext from /System/Library/Extensions Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/77165-ls8v17-mac-os-x-1057-ga-p35-ds4-ga-ep45-dq6/page/27/#findComment-763553 Share on other sites

LS8
You can install Windows to second partition, press F8 on startup and choose what system to boot. It works for me. MajorApollo
LS8, just wanted to thank you for your guide. It took me about a week to get familiar with all the ins and outs of building a Hackintosh, but I got everything up and running well on a P35-DS3L board. Only had to add a new AppleAHCIPort kext and the HDA patch for the sound, and it's all running very smoothly. Thanks again! squeeks
this pack may not work for your motherboard, if you have different model than GA-P35-DS4 hmm, k i see now that this guide is for the P35, however its listed in the wiki for the EP35 which is what i have, i know they are ALMOST the same board, but that could be causing my issues, i just like your guide the best becuase the othe three look a lot harder to follow but ill set it up again and boot in -v to see where the hang is this system works fine with the kalway 10.5.2 vanilla kernel, should i maybe just stick with that? everything seems to work cept onboard audio, i havent been able to track down the right kext for that yet Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/77165-ls8v17-mac-os-x-1057-ga-p35-ds4-ga-ep45-dq6/page/27/#findComment-765537 Share on other sites

dabla
Hi ls8, I saw that you've included the efi strings for GF8800 GT 512 in your new v10 package. Will this also work on a GA-EP35-DS4 ? Or will I have to do the EFI string generation myself. I'm also wondering if those strings are also dependant on the brand of the videocard or are they the same for each grafic card with the same GPU? HexDump
Hi everybody, I´m in the process of buying a board for hacintosh and vista (mainly hacintosh, but I would like to play some win games too). I want to buy the most compatible board for hacintosh is this a good option? I would like if it is possible to be able to update directly form apple (can this be done?), etc... Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I prefer to make dumb questions than been an ignorant . Thanks in advance, hexDump. Yo´ll be able to update your software from apple, but, mainly updates (the latest is the 10.5.3) you´ll have to do it using the manuals that are in the forums (or if you can, the method described in first post). The others, like ilife, etc you can update them directly from software update utility.
