(MoC)
From the way I can read your text I can't understand what the hell you are trying to do....... I wouldn't hack until reading some more guides and risks. This IS NOT a "hey let me mod my compy" 3 step process!

apowerr
Don't hack your BIOS, just flash it... Also are you sure motherboard supports the processor you purchased? What processor in particular was it?

nagal
Okay if Dell says their motherboard does not support C2D then what leads to believe that it does?
deathanarchist2
dell says it will but there is no bios that matches my system id that will
EddM
Did Dell tell you to upgrade your BIOS, or are you just deducing that for yourself? If they did tell you to update or change it, get back on the phone with them as I'm fairly sure they'll tell you where to procure such a BIOS. deathanarchist2
no they told me to send it in so they could do it them selfs for 150 $cause they have to edit the bios to accept the c2d
EddM
This sounds to me like that even though your mobo can accept a c2d chip, they're simply not releasing the BIOS software needed in order to make some extra cash in the service department. If that's so, then I'm afraid your only option is to send it in to them and fork out the cash -- or be prepared to dispense a lot of whining down the phone to them to give it to you. stellarola
no they told me to send it in so they could do it them selfs for 150 $cause they have to edit the bios to accept the c2d For a $150, just buy a new motherboard that supports core2. -Stell
bonestonne
for $150, you could buy a new mobo, and a C2D, and forget your existing board/CPU. the worst thing to do when buying a new computer is thinking its good enough, and you'll never want to upgrade. second worst thing to do when buying a new computer is buying a dell.
