So there is no way to get CI/QE running on your nvidia graphics system?

Well after downloading the MacVidia kext and adding my card to the string I get CI, still no QE but i am getting CI.

Nvidia 6600GT 256mb!!!!!

and how did you edit your file (said by macvidia) ?

(see below)

I added my ID's as per, rebooted and then it complained about the kext not being installed correctly so i did it again and repaired my permissions. rebooted and there it was. I had 10.4.3 "upgraded" form 10.4.1.

Dont have any support now - have installed 10.4.4(5)

Did you have ripple effects on dashboard? :hysterical:

hmmm just I missed something in this whole nvidia problem...

my upgraded 10.4.5 has lots of nvidia specific kext stuff like a resolution manager and family-specific drivers (from NV10 to NV40, mine is NV43/6200go) and actually tries to load this stuff at boot up, but fails with not matching family string/ID.

sooooooo the drivers aka kernel extensions are there to use, but what seems missing is the right hardware string...

so why not try to get the available stuff working, instead of staying with vesa3.0/1024 res and fiddling together this macvidia stuff?

must have missed something...

Yes, they are ppc. Not x86. You are running on plain vesa atm.

ah well, thanks, that explains it. what a shame... funny though that my x86 installation definitely tries to load these kext thingies?!

Yes I don't know... :) Had this here, too. If you want to spend 49 bucks on an ATI card, I can recommend the X300 available at Saturn :guitar: I have a geforce 6600GT and decided to switch to the ati.

If I was to buy one, would it matter if it was an AGP or PCI-Express one?
