lord xeon
After a few days of trying, i finally got Leopard installed and running on my computer. Took another day or so before i was able to get sound, network, time machine, and display working too, but i got there. i tried updating to 10.5.1, and now i can't boot into Leopard. booting with -v gives this: i've tried all the different methods of booting up: -legacy, -v, -x, -s, and still no luck. i used i_am...me's guide to install 10.5 with pc_efi_v8 and the ToH RC2 dvd. any help would be lovely, thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75539-cant-boot-after-1051-update/ Share on other sites
jasonwoodvine
Hi Here's my 2p worth. Did you remove "AppleEFIRuntime.kext" from /Volumes/<Volume name>/System/Library/Extensions! and replace the AppleSMBIOS.kext from the same location as pc_efi_v8 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75539-cant-boot-after-1051-update/#findComment-533545 Share on other sites

Did you remove "AppleEFIRuntime.kext" from /Volumes/<Volume name>/System/Library/Extensions! and replace the AppleSMBIOS.kext from the same location as pc_efi_v8 i did when i first installed leopard, i havent done it since, does updating put them back? after i finish some of my work i'll boot into the dvd, and see if they are there, and delete/replace them if they are. Headrush69
i did when i first installed leopard, i havent done it since, does updating put them back? No, there is no AppleEFIRuntime.kext or AppleSMBIOS.kext in the 10.5.1 update. lord xeon
No, there is no AppleEFIRuntime.kext or AppleSMBIOS.kext in the 10.5.1 update. thankyou, you saved me an unknown ammount of time spent rebooting and waiting for the dvd to load. that returns me to my original question though, how to fix this? Donw35
My Experiences with 10.5.1 is if you downloaded it though the software update within Leopard you either have alot of stuff to fix or re install Leopard. For me, re installing was the way to go. This is the process I use to upgrade to 10.5.1 from a working Leopard install * Download the update from Apples site and save it to your Download folder * Download the scripts below and save them to your Download folder * In terminal navigate to your Download folder * sudo –s * Password: * ./pre-update.sh * Run the MacOSXUpd10.5.1.dmg but do not reboot * ./post-update.sh * ./post-update2.sh * you can reboot now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75539-cant-boot-after-1051-update/#findComment-533728 Share on other sites
