vbetts
Yeah, it's coming. Only 1.2 ghz per core, but 800 mhz core, conroe core it seems, this thing better live up to the other budget dual core cpus from intel. http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=6202 And good for a cheap hackintosh. Synaesthesia
I believe it will be 1.6ghz, although the model is called E1200...but anyway...looks like yet another score for intel. I might get one. The cache drop will hurt these babies badly, but they're still worth buying! Fastrac
Will it really be that good of a deal when you can already pick-up a E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz for $75? eject
Will it really be that good of a deal when you can already pick-up a E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz for $75? if they cutted down the power consumption like with the s4xx celeron series an priced under the allendales it will be a bargain Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75429-celeron-dual-core/#findComment-544513 Share on other sites
REVENGE
Hey, these things could come in handy for a tiny, cool, mini-itx HTPC! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75429-celeron-dual-core/#findComment-544557 Share on other sites
CLiDE FTW!!1
I'd rather pay the extra $$$ and get the better cache AND faster cores with a C2D... $85 is dirt cheap for a processor. Synaesthesia
Will it really be that good of a deal when you can already pick-up a E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz for $75? True. 512k cache shared between the two cores is actually really going to hurt performance. I would also much rather get a 2xxx or 4xxx series, for 1 or 2mb of cache. ~pcwiz
Up until recently I thought Celeron D (like Pentium D) processors were dual core but it seems not...but yay for people who are building budget hackint0shes Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75429-celeron-dual-core/#findComment-546420 Share on other sites
eject
since gaming and rendering is not part of what i'm doing with my hackintosh i don't need all that power a c2d offers. btw the cheapest allendale is about 120€ my s420 celeron with 1,6 perfectly satisfies me, with those 4gb ram (of which i can of course only use 3,2 or something due to chipset limitations with my board, also cheap , but ram is nearly for free if its just 800) even coverflow which i use to browse my videos (over 100 with over 300mb each) is working like a charm. a faster hdd would give me more than a c2d. low power consumption and low price is what matters for me. Fastrac
these things are shipping now. Anyone had a chance to try it out? EFI? Vanilla?mmmmm......vanillaIt's the same as the e21** series chips, it just has half the cache. My E2140 is running the Vanilla kernel just fine. I don't think you would have any problems with this chip.these things are shipping now. Anyone had a chance to try it out? EFI?
