loybond
Hi guys, thanks to your instructions I have leopard running great. Ethernet worked right away, awesome. I had a Vista DVD in the drive when I first installed, and it saw that, but I couldn't physically eject the drive. After removing the disc and a reboot, it doesn't seem to see the SATA Pioneer DVD that I have. Any of you guys experience this? Secondly, I don't know if I have QE and CI. How do I check? I'm pasting some stuff below, might help. Thanks!!! vbetts
Quartz extreme: Supported Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Yup, you have QE/CI. If not, Core image would say software accelerated, or something like that. I don't remember. vbetts
Well that's a good question. Do any of your other sata drives work? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75097-does-your-sata-dvd-drive-work-in-leopard/#findComment-530677 Share on other sites
Azurael
Mine works fine. Are you sure all the ports on your SATA controller are recognised in OS X? Try moving it to a different one. My messy cacophony of HDDs all work under OS X, as does my new Samsung S203N DVD Writer... loybond
Yeah, all the other SATA drives are fine. On my P5K Deluxe, there are red SATA ports and black ones as well (I think controlled by Jmicron). Its in the red one, but I'll try switching it around when I get home. Strangely enough, it read the disc that was in the drive when I first installed the OS. macmaniac
loybond, the issues you are having with your DVD drive are well known. I have personally had this issue with both Pioneer and Plextor. I bought a Samsung SH-S203B, and the problem was solved. At least DVD drives are cheap these days. naddy69
Are you talking about the DVD "working" as in being seen by OS X or "working" as in it can read but not burn your own disks? These are 2 completely different issues. derailed_spark
ASUS DRW-2014S1T recognised and tested , working with-out problem. Try installing the dvd-rw drive on one of the two sata ports on the mobo. Sometimes that helps.
