Special-K
Grandma and Average Joe may well want to know what advanced features do, dont make them out to be retards and think advanced features are not for them. Dude I'm pretty positive that my Grandma doesn't need ShadowCopy or Bitlocker. {censored} my Mom doesn't even need that {censored}. So your advanced features argument means nothing. People just want to turn their computer on, and go on the net. Maybe even download some music as well. That's all. rollcage
Why are people bashing MS for changing a policy for people that don't pay for their product? They probably should just completely lock it up until you enter a product key... I also think robotskip has been spot on with most of his arguments so far, and pretty tolerant even though he's been dealing with some completely inaccurate arguments. It's affected legal users to, but they are so bothered about branding pirates rather than people who use Windows on multiple computers, effectively they are pirates to. I dont see them shutting loopholes for multiple activation times of the same version, Microsoft have got their money from them even though they are still classed as a pirate by Microsoft's own EULA. I just want to see them fix the problem with activation that when i try to activate Vista on the same machine after reinstalling it, it says the product key is in use. I thought activation was based on machine :-/. Thats why I gave up with genuine, except for my desktop which has a a legit key that I got from the university student software program. Even when you try to be good, they still hate you. I still think its stupid that they have so many versions out. I honestly hope with Windows 7 they go back to 2 versions as it is so much easier to pick the one for my needs, and hopefully stick in 2 disks in the box (1 32-bit, 1 64-bit) instead of getting just 32-bit and having to order extra disks for 64-bit. Exactly, and on your point of different version yes it makes perfect sense to put every feature on one disk, it's just Microsoft are to tight and stuck up their own arse to do so. Multiple version gives the impression of choice and was a knee jerk reaction to OS X, Linux and the EU on their back, flooding the market with Vista versions is just another trick from the Redmond camp. When Windows 7 get two versions then maybe people WILL realize how much Vista was and is a total mess.
