getting ready for iATKOS

I'm a noob about this, looking for some help.

I've got a new Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop running Vista. I want to wipe it out with a full format and set up dual boot to XP and Leopard.

So far I've determined that it will be worth it to wait for the iATKOS release of Lepard. I'm sure some of you will disagree, and thats fine. I'm still waiting.

What should I do to prepare for this??

Are there any tools I should download to get ready for the release?

Which OS should I load first?

What partitions would you suggest? (I have 160GB drive)

--I'm thinking about ~20GB for XP, ~20GB for OSx86, and ~120GB for shared files

What partition format will I need for the shared files? Can OSx86 read/write to NTFS, or do I need to go with FAT32 or something else?

Are there any guides that you would recommed reading?

Thanks! I'm hoping if this goes well I can contribute a bit to the community in troubleshooting Dell-laptop related issues.

If you format your xp partition as fat32 you don't need a shared partition. You can see fat32 from the osx side.

And if you want to see your osx partition from the xp side get your self a copy of MacDrive for windows. Macdrive works great and you can find it @ your fav spot online.

Or get a FREE trial here: http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/

Good luck, and glad to have you along :thumbsup_anim:

***BTW you could try XXX 10.4.10. This is the best tiger release I have found and it's only a 1.86GB DL:)

Edit: some more info on the XXX release: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...3477&hl=XXX & http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6800

Please let me know if any of this helps you:)

Thanks for your help everybody. It looks like iATKOS will be released here within the next day or two, so goodbye vista, hello dual boot with Leopard!

Anyway, I like the Acronis quad-boot method (at least in theory), so I'll try that first.

We'll see what issues come up...

I'm anticipating sound and wifi issues.

What a surprise ! There will be no iatkos release this week as promised on the Uphuck site.

I'll bet i will have been using my Zephyroth AMD Leopard install for 3 months before they

put one out.
