Some new news from the front:

When I tried to boot with -x -v platform=X86Pc i got screen to plug my keyboard, and when tried to boot with -s to go to console it stops on that error: ERROR: FireWire unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure.

So I'm gonna to do this what you wrote (what utils I need?) but I'm thinking how to solve this problems above (is there any kext for it?) Thanks for advice.

Try this first:

>Reboot from the disc

>Open terminal

> Type "cp -Rf /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext /Volumes/"Name of your Hard Drive"/System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext"

>Save and close terminal

>Reboot

Hi everyone, longtime lurker, first time poster. I recently downloaded this CD and followed the guide referenced here to try to install it. It would install properly but would not boot up. After playing around with settings I've gotten stuck. I've tried everything in the guide but nothing has worked. The /usr/misc/script.sh the guide says to try to execute is not present so that's the only option I haven't tried.

with that attitude you won't get help around here or on other forums

Actually I don t think that it is meant that way .. but, to be honest, its REALLY HARD to find an answer in a 98 pages long thread that deals with nearly all issues that can happen with the V1 installation. :P

Thanks cgsheen for the response. osx86 is installed on an external hd, with Vista & Linux on the internal.

MB: ASUS A8M2N-LA (NodusM3-GL8E)

Processor: AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ (958 MB RAM)

Chipset: nVidia GeForce 6150 LE

Network Adapter: NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller

Disk Drive: WD 1600JB External USB Device

Disk Drive: WD20 00JS-60NCB1 SCSI Disk Device

I'm going to try a clean install and will zero out the partition. I was hoping not to have to after getting so close but I've been at if for four days -can't give up now!

Definately disable the "nForce networking controller" in the BIOS. Work on that after you get the OS up and running (or get a cheap Realtek RTL8139 or 8169 PCI card).

Hi,

im trying to get my onboard Marvell 88E8001 since nforce4 lan keeps freezing my os.

ive tried editing a .plst file with my dev id which is vendor 11AB Device 4320 using this guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=28680

however it doesn't work, also, the kext i had to edit was appleyukon2.kext since there was no appleyoukon.kext .

do i need to somehow get a hold of appleyukon.kext for this to work?

i have a DFI NF4 SLI motherboard with an x2 processor

everything else seems to be working great other then LAN.

thanks

Did you try with the "cpus=1" in the bootloader?.

@Dirk: you *can* get it to work, you just might find yourself doing some strange things. After lurking here and picking away at my problems I have an almost 100% working system.

Hardware:

A8N-SLI

AMD 4600+ X2

BFG 512MB 7950GT

SATA Drives

External Hardware: Saffire Firewire sound card, various USB midi controllers

Process:

- installed Zeph's disc Rev a on a partition on a SATA drive, used Grub => Chainloader to boot into OSX

- got around reg loop by creating a dummy account on my macBook and importing that over firewire in FW target disk mode. I ave a Ti chipset firewire card in the machine, PCI card. it 'just works'

- installed DOS on a spare PATA drive to flash my video bios! probably the most painful bit...

Result:

- almost everything works: QE/CI, Read-only access to NTFS partitions, my favourite audio apps

- ableton live works best if I disable multi-cpu support

- logic audio is a bit fidgety

- my TC Powercore PCI card does not work at all, but that may well be a general Leopard issue.

Ok, 3 questions. Any idea when rev2 will be released? Will this work on my acer aspire 9301AWMSI laptop, Amd Turion 64 MK-36 2.0ghz, 1gb of ram 80 gb sata hd, nvidia geforce go 6100, realtek hd audio soundcard. I have tried to get this to boot and i have tried 10.4 but i can not get them too boot at all. Also, on my desktop, can i get my onboard soundcard realteck ac97 3 channel, (MIC in, Line in, Line Out) its on my ECS Elitegroup K8HT2000 nforce 4 m/b.

Many Thanks

Lee

Oh, and thanks for the help Xxp/TuX! your solution didn't work on my laptop, however it did work on another machine.

I've got quite similar hardware like yours and with a couple of tricks you can get Rev.1 to work on your laptop. Read my experiences with Rev.1 here.

Touchpad: Did you try this one?

Sound: What about those ones?

I get this error in the bootloader:

AppleGenericPCATADriver: CMD 0x1f0, CIR 0x3f4, IRQ 14

sometimes it stops earlier, but at the most at this point.

I have tried: -c -v -f -x cpus=1

PC specs:

MSI K9N DIAMOND - NVIDIA® nForce 590 SLI

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

MSI 8800 GTS

SAMSUNG spinpoint 200 GB (ATA)

WESTER DIGITAL 120 GB (ATA)

2 GB Crosair Dominator DDR2 6400

Whats wrong?

Please HELP!!

EDIT: I have an external DVD drive via USB... Could this be the problem?

Holy Balls of Happiness!

After erasing the partition with zeros, reinstalling, and booting with -x "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32", I'm IN! There's a lot of work to be done from here I'll bet, but a HUGE thank you to Zeph for making this and everyone who gave me some feedback!
