I have VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Pro. I have a legal copy of Leopard Server, from my work, that I need to it install to figure out how it works.

I would like to be able to install it in VMWare so I can run Server in a sandboxed environment. I know I can repartition one of my HD's and dual boot, but if I can run Server in a VM it would save so much time.

I have looked all over the forums and wiki and don't see anything about hacking the Server installer to install into VMWare. I tried just a normal Leopard patcher made by BrazilMac, but it just errored on almost every command.

I have the Server install DVD and so I can make a disk image. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Note: If this is covered in a thread elsewhere I apologies for not finding it, and if you could point me in the right direction I'll just shut up.

Isn't that part of the new Leopard server licensing? I remember reading that it was the first apple product that they would allow to be "virtualized" legally. I'm not sure if there is a VMWare or Parallels product that supports it as of yet..

An advantage of having real hardware and legal software is that Apple is only a phone call away. It couldn't hurt to ask. It may be the easiest and fastest answer.

Well guess what? I got it to work natively on my hack. Looks awesome, something new to learn.

I have tried, unsuccessfully, to use BrazilMac's Leopard Patch to apply to Leopard Server. I got the Apple logo in VMWare, but then the VM kernel panics.

So Royco, share the wealth! How did you get Leopard Server running in VMWare Fusion?

patch from brazilmac doesnt work, you need a othr w/ come modifications :)
