Need advice, please.

I recently purchased some parts and combine with some parts from my current computer and ready to build my own HacPro. I read many instructions of how to do it. and I also got ToH, Original Leopard Dvd, and BrazilMac patch files.

But many people does differently according to their hardwares. So.....

Would anyone please tell me which instruction should I follow and will suit for me better (in different steps).

My Hardwares are.....

Intel D975XBX2 "Bad Axe 2" (everybody said that the firewire of this board just works out of the box)

Intel Q6600

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

XFX PVT73GUGF3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3

2 X Western Digital 320GB SATA300

2 X Maxtor 250GB SATA150

(Like to do RAID 0 for both of them cuz I'm a big 0 fan)

Sony Dvd DL 16x

Iomega Dvd-RW (Single Layer)

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel case

RAIDMAX RX-600F ATX12V / EPS12V 600W PSU

I have a rough plan of how to do this now, which are 4 steps

1. use my original Dvd for Mac and apply the BrazilMac patch files as the instrution says.

BrazilMac instruction

2. I'll apply NVinject from the list of this site.

NVinject

The one I need is probably the one named "Latest_NVinject.0.1.5-Leo.zip", am I right?

3. I'll install the EFI with the instruction in this page.

EFI Installing

4. Upgrade in apple site.

That's my procedure of building my HacPro.

Do I miss any thing or mistaken any of the steps?

Please reply me! That would sure be very very helpful.

And I can't Thank you enough.

Thanks again.

Thomas

That's not what I asked. What I'm saying is - Maybe it's just an old fashioned disk error. Nothing to do with OSX at all. How about booting off the install DVD and using Disk Utility to check the disk...

Patrick

it did boot from the cd and i can see the drive on disk utility and it install fine after that i left the cd in the drive to let it boot from the had drive and it was stuck at the same point so i active the partition and try to boot but no luck. i hope that is what you are asking me?

well thank for the help.

I am using the same board. Sound is running with AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16 and STAC9221D.txt. But I didn't get the network (Intel 82573L) to run. And with AHCI my drives are shown as removabel HD (orange icon). When I switch the SATA-Interface to IDE drives are shown as they should be.

GETTING BOOTSECTOR WITH TOH:

You have to run the script.sh from the Install-DVD 2x. Before running the 2nd time, unmount boot-disk with Disk Utility. Then go back in Terminal and run script.sh again.

need help install the LAN and sound how did you fix that?

i am newbe.

thanks for all your help.

Actually, the network should just work. I know it doesn't look like it is, but boot up with a network cable attached, then launch safari. If necessary use the network troubleshooter, but it should be working by the time you try to load a webpage for the second time.

thank you so much in advance.

Great mobo. I have a very similar setup. The audio was a pain to get working. I've included the codec dump here as well as a link to AppleHDA patcher 1.16 - later versions didn't work for me. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=18273

Thanks to everyone for the great work!

I gave your patch a shot but I'm still stuck with stereo out - no mute, no mic. I've done my own linux dump and it's the same thing. Anyone have a solution for audio yet?

I'm also stuck on the Marvell controller - I just can't get it working. BJMoose says his is working, but under NTFS, and I've talked to another Bad Axe 2 owner who has it working as well (I gave it a shot that way but it crashed my system). I've tried two solutions so far with no luck, so if anyone has been successful in this area please share! :P

@Weaksauce, I don't know what to tell you about the Marvell controller. Almost a year ago now, those of us who first got the BA2 came to agree that either it worked or it didn't on a particular board. We compared bios settings and step by step basic installation procedures and it just worked for some and not for others. It's possible that Marvell made a slight change in their chip that has no effect on windows but does on osx.

As for the sound, generally we've all had that working since Taruga came out with 1.15 and the Stac for 9274D. I'm using 1.16 now and have sound and mute working on all 3 of my BA2's. Mic is not working for anybody and never has. Since there are so many different versions of the Sigmatel chip, I don't think anyone is working on the older one anymore.

Here's how I do for mine.

1. install EFI: you can just read the part of (******** begin pc_efi install guide: *******)

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...92;+Pack/EFI.sh

(My BX2 boot fine without doing the next step "***** begin main install guide: *****", maybe you'll be the same)

P.S I use MBR instead, in case you like to know

2. when install, instead of put in the 9a581 disk, I put kalyway 10.5.1 in and install only (2 of the Vanalla things, NVinject_ghaphic_desktop, and EFI MBR) if you use ATI then select another thing other than NVinject.

3. you done! I use Acronis to do multiboot

My configeration: disk0s1 OsX, disk0s2 WinXp (with acronis OS selecter), disk0s3 Ubuntu Studio, disk0s4 for data (lagical partition in this one); (RAID-0 disk in Marvall plug)disk1s1 WinXp64, and Data(lagical also).

And I set Active on disk0s2

By the way, Kalyway doesn't work with Marvell but iAtkos does. However iAtkos crash all the time in my configeration, so I choose Kalyway.

And the sound, like I said in my personal statement, only 2 channels out with STAC9274D_83847621.txt, no Mic-in :D , need help on that!

Firewire work on storage device but can't capture in FCP 5.0. And I don't have 5.1 or higher to test (rumor say that intel processor can only work well after 5.1)

By the way, how do you put the pretty picture and system configeration in your post?

Weaksauce12:

I'm only using the coaxial out at the moment. I haven't tried any of the other ports. I can happily report that 5.1 sound decoding works great.

Different subject:

I'm having trouble getting my other OSes to boot after I've used the efi scheme. Both ubuntu & XP start, but don't make it all the way through the boot process. Immediately after install, they boot fine. All is well until I reconnect my drive with Leopard on it. I've used GRUB to boot, but no dice. Starts, but won't finish. I'm using MBR with OSX on one drive & Linux & XP on the other. Maybe I'll try acronis... Any ideas?

Not sure if my idea helps!

I install Acronis Os Selector after every OSes in place. And the system condition was like this.

1. OsX was boot fine with active the partition and hide all others OSes.

2. Window boot fine without hide any other.

3. Ubuntu boot fine with Lilo.

4. Win64 same above.

Then Active the partition Windows is in, and install Acronis. and make each boot the same as above.

Note: Don't hide any OSes when Os Selector is installing.

After that, Don't hide the partition that OsX is it.

Data disk is using NTFS format and with MacFuse in OsX every body can use it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks TomTom1. I'm not sure what I did differently other than reinstall, but everything is booting fine now on this round of oh so fun OS installs. The only problem I'm having is that OSX doesn't like having a logical partition on one of the drives which makes my 475 GB FAT partition unmountable. I'll see about changing that partition in acronis...

UPDATE: I didn't end up using acronis, just GRUB. I'm able to mount all of the partitions. I can't seem to get ntfs-3g to work on this machine, so I've formatted the data partition as FAT-32. Better than nothing! It seems that installing OSX after the other OSes originally broke them in some way. I'm not sure why.

NewEgg has BX2 open box for $80, today!

I had to finally pull the trigger. Ordered everything to build a new hackintosh.

Microcenter is currently selling the BX2 boards for $149 in store and on their website. I couldn't pass the deal up when I saw it. Leo recognizes the Marvell SATA controller so you wind up with 8 SATA 300 ports when you're done!
