logiclover
I am a huge fan of Logic for one reason: its functionality as a studio for producing dance music. However, I have also played around with many other programs, such as Reason, and have to say I am really impressed. Personally, I feel a PC will always deliver a much stronger value than the Apple counterparts will/have, and am therefore looking for Windows/Linux alternatives to Logic. More importantly, I'm searching for alternatives to its killer synths. I tried installing several OSX86 variations, and failed miserably, on my 6-month-old laptop. I don't require a lot of the functionality present in Logic, as my needs are pretty simple: - multitracking - virtual synths with unique sounds that are (pop/club-friendly) - samplers I'm not looking for extremely futuristic-sounding synths, if I wanted that I would just outfit myself with a Native Instruments rig... I'm sure this sounds confusing to some of you. If this is the case, answer me one question: What comparable alternatives are there to Logic's killer set of synths? Thanks so much everyone. If you're really that big of a fan, go find a copy of Logic 5.5 for XP. It's basically the same as LP7 without Space Designer, Sculpture, Ultra Beat or the black color scheme. You can supplement any missing plugs with the endless supply of VST's. Jackobyte
There are so many alternatives to Logic but Logic is the only one that has the Logic workflow. Those saying get Logic 5.5 for the PC are nuts, it doesn't support multiple processors for a start and some VST's don't work on it because it has an old VST standard. Sonar 7 is the obvious choice for the PC since it is easily the most powerful DAW available for PC and makes the best use of Windows based machines but it is not necessarily the best for dance music. However if it is sampling and synths you are looking for and you aren't going to record any audio then the a good choice i think is Reason 4. it has a prety bad sequencer but the synths sound great and the samplers are highly functional. As mentioned before Rewiring Reason to a better sequencer and mixing environment can be good, but then you also get killer synths with Sonar 7, the sampler and drum machines are very good too and the included effects are top notch too...... Ableton Live and Reason is a killer combination for Dance Music, Live is brilliant and has original workflow and reason has the sounds. My choice would be the Live and Reason combination.......
