News for temperature problem...

It seems that Temperature monitor is wrong with a "B revision chip", & good only with G0 revision...

When it's wrong it gives temperature with 15 degrees celsius more... Don't know how to see which revision i have... But temperature between Vista and Mac os is always 15 degrees different... So i think temperature monitor isn't ggod for me...

Does anyone know another temperature monitor ? Like Coretemp for windows or Coreduotemp for leopard ?

I'm pretty sure my T7300 isn't G0 stepping.. I checked with CPUZ on Vista.

Generally speaking, if it feels cool it's probably ~45 degrees, if it's warm it's probably ~55 degrees, and if it's really hot to the touch then it's probably 60+ degrees... just from my own subjective observations ;)

Ahhh, I got another problem... when I install the kalyway 10.5.2 update it boots SOOOO Slow like 5-6min and I tried install the Kalyway kernel package but if I install that it gives me kernel panic :( so I renamed System.kext.old System.kext that fixed it and it booted and it had all the new vanilla kernels etc but still same boot time??? Please help.

Hmm..It seems to be ntfs.kext I tried deleting it but still no luck :( How (If you did) get yours to boot up fast in 10.5.2 :P

what exactly does it say? can you take a picture and be a bit more descriptive?

well it will stay on the ntfs text area which says "NTFS volume name VistaOS, version 3.1" and it has stuff like "/usr/sbin/ocspd[80]: starting" above it and it will stay there for about 3-5mins and also USB doesnt work if i don't start it with a USB, any fix for that? thanks man :gun:

**EDIT**: It dm I just put 10.5.1 back on it it just works much better :P

well i had the same problem before with 10.5.2 and i think the problem is that you didnt change to 10.5.2 kernel you can use the kayway10.5.2 kernel! and the usb is that there's a kext you have to change as well as you change the kernel but the computer i'm using doesnt have mac os ont it i'll have to tell you later........ and by the way if i install the kayway kernel using his installer i'll just get kernel pinck but if i installed it manuly it worked i dont know why so a little suggestion hope it'll help!

I changed my os to vista and i wanted to get the easybcd working but i saw on the web that after you installed leopard you have to repair the vista or you cant get in to vista any more and do i have to use the vista dvd in order to finish it there's another way thanks!and how shuold i set the easybcd thanks!

@easycome24,

if you installed vista and vista boots, don't worry about repairing vista. if leopard is booting and you want to boot vista, you have to boot off the vista DVD, do a "repair", and it will recover the vista bootloader (in most cases, change active partition to vista so it will boot).

once in vista, install EasyBCD, and run it. Go add/remove entries, and add Mac>Generic x86 PC, type a name, and click "Add Entry". Press "Save", and then go to "Change settings" on the left side, choose default OS, etc, and how long to delay, and save. play around with other settings, reboot, and enjoy the working bootloader! :)

Thanks i'll try it out guess i have to borrow the vista disk from my friend again............ :cards: !

Hey everyone, I'm new here. i've been reading through these pages and learned a bit over the past few days. The desire to put on a osx on my laptop came after my friend's g4 broke and i ended up fixing it, but thats beside the point.

I have an Asus F3SV with bios v208

first i tried installing jas 10.4.8 and that worked (kinda) after doing all the steps when restarting i would get still waiting for root device. booting with the cd got me into the os but usb and nothing else basically worked. So i decided to try Kalyway 10.5.1 used the same method -x -v cpus=1 and it booted and installed and then restarted and used the same command in addition to rd=disk0s2. it booted and it asks me for the language and some other thing and then it would get to the transfer files screen and it would just wait after i'd hit continue and then it restarted the process over and over. adding a -s to the whole line and then doing

/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
/sbin/mount -uw /
passwd root ##it will ask you to enter a new password
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

username is then root and pass is whatever you specify (i'm guessing root is like administrator account in windows)

then it worked to get past the account creation. now i'm in the os and wondering what i need to do to get the cd drive to work (maybe it does work, it doesn't let me eject? possibly because i booted with it?)

that brings me to another question, how do i get it to boot without using a cd, i have windows xp on the first partition and osx on the second. before installing osx i made, partition 2 the active partition with diskpart. i installed osx with only the efi_mbr option.

should i make partition 1 active? i can go back and forth with diskpart by booting from erd commander. with no dvd in the drive and partition 2 active i only see a blinking curser.

thanks

If you are booting with Leopard as default partition, I think you can just choose Vista on Darwin and it SHOULD boot up...

BIOS 208 is out? :o

Press and hold F12 to eject the DVD, or drag it into the garbage can to eject. The drive eject button on the actual dvd drive won't work if you have a disc in there... OS X locks it, probably because on real macbooks they don't have such a button? not sure.

what happens when you boot without a DVD? have you tried "compatible mode" in bios for IDE?

You can use the chain0 method with the XP bootloader to boot both OS's, or set OS X partition as active and when you need to boot XP boot it off Darwin (the OS X bootloader). hope this helps!

whether i have it enhanced or compatible i just get a flashing

_

the eject thing worked, i left the system running for a bit and when i got back it was frozen.

i did set the partition 2 which is osx as active before installing it, unless the install changed something, it's still active. any ideas?

i changed the active partition to the first partition, got the chain 0 file and changed my boot.ini to

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
c:\Chain0="Apple Mac OS X x86"

when booting up and picking that option i still get the blinking line :wacko:

Blinking cursor... hmm...

is your partition primary with id=af?

let me confirm if this is correct:

you have an Asus F3SV, and you formatted second partition as a primary partition with id=af. Then, you installed Kalyway 10.5.1 with efi and mbr option, and when you boot you get a blinking _. This is all done on BIOS 208.

have you tried BIOS 207?
