Either of these will work great with Intel systems if you have compatible hardware. I've got a new Compaq tower with AMD 4200+ dual core and a Gefore 420 chipset that I can't get it to install on. The installer loads but won't format the drive. I hit erase and a pinwheel comes up for an hour. Err! I've had no problems on my machine. I didn't know if there is a more recent test. Btw, I've tried JaS 10.4.8 and Uphuck 1.3 on this machine, and neither of them will even launch the installer. It says "still waiting for root device." There are a number of new OSX86 distributions/updates as Uphuck hasn't updated to 10.4.10. I'm not sure what the best one is, but most people have standardized on the Uphuck releases (JaS being the last sort of standard release). I don't know of any need to update to Apple's latest, unless the user cannot install iWork manually on the older system (it isn't difficult).
