rootxps
Today i've got an ATI 9550 Card. Now I can change my resolution with "Graphics Mode" up to 1280x1024x32! But i can't change the refreshrate! My refreshrate is still 60 Hz. The reason is the VESA 2 mode ... Now i want to get a ATI Card that runs with 1280x1024x32 an 85 Hz! Can you tell me wich card a have to buy? THX Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6452-which-ati-cards-are-vesa-3-cards/ Share on other sites
Wenle Z.
doesn't your monitor has to do with the refresh rate too? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6452-which-ati-cards-are-vesa-3-cards/#findComment-40134 Share on other sites
Tearabite
the monitor has to support the refresh rate that you specify, or you'll get a jumbled mess or "out of range" message on the screen. But, x86 will ignore a specifed refresh rate if it thinks your video card is only VESA2 .. sulfo
hmm weird... i ve got a 9800 pro vesa 3 but it still only offers 1024 screen resolution, i guess i'll have to change that manually then... i guess any monitor younger than 3y should manage a 85hz refresh rate at that resolution? u have a crt or a lcd monitor? zazman
I confirm 9600 and above are only vesa2. Another way that i made with my radeon 7500 was to flash the bios of the card to initialize it at 85 Hz instead 60 hz for a specified résolution, so osx boot up with 85 hz refresh rate natively. does someone knows if the bios of the radeon 9550 can be edited/flashed to increase the refresh rate : for example : 1024x768x32 @60hz -> 85 hz 1280x1024x32 @60 hz -> 75 hz I just find a sapphire radeon 9550 and can test it for 8 days before to buy or return to shop !!! Thanks a lot. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6452-which-ati-cards-are-vesa-3-cards/#findComment-42016 Share on other sites
