Toaster37
I have used search and I hate to make my first post a question but... I downled XxX's 10.4.10 with ppf ISO checked the MD5 Sum and all that so with all that stuf checking out I went on to try to install. I get the still waiting for root device. My system is the following: Gigabyte m61p-S3 (current BioS), 4200+ X2 AMD (Brisbane), 250 WD SATA drive, SATA DVD drive, 7600GS on a PCI express 16x slot, My system also has a 6150 integrated graphics card. I am thinking that the problem is my SATA drive. I also attempted to install with the SATA drive totally wiped. Currently I have one partition with 160GB and the rest is unformatted should I format the remaining space to FAT32 and modify the permissions? I am currently downloading Uphucks newest universal version to see if that resolves the issue. Anything to help is greatly appreciated. Do you think it is my SATA drive or maybe a conflict between the two Gfx units. All help is greatly appreciated *edit* So I tried using a IDE drive to install OSX86 on and I still get the waiting for root device area. I am curious if anyone has anything else to suggest. I am on the verge of giving up Toast Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64134-still-waiting-for-root-device-sata-drive-updated/ Share on other sites
lollett
Different setup to yours, but had to change sata mode setting in bios to compatible to get this working... Toaster37
How do I do that. My options in BIO are to turn on and off raid and to disable and enable drives. What do I need to change in Bios? *edit* i tried making my Fat32 partition the "active" partition. Didn't help and now my XP install is all screwed up Toast Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64134-still-waiting-for-root-device-sata-drive-updated/#findComment-454008 Share on other sites
Stewed Apple
NForce430 is not currently fully supported. You will need to patch your DVD to install. Presently you may only use 128GB of the drive. I suggest you get an IDE Drive for now. Read more here... http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry449625 Peace. ~pcwiz
I just wanted to give people a tip: If your SATA drives full capacity isn't recognized by OS X due to chipset limitations, then get an IDE drive, as one member already said, OR get an external USB/FireWire drive and install to that (which is what I did).
