Hi all

For the last year or so I have been endlessly trying to get my laptop with the dreaded X200 chipset running.

I have tried soo many different versions of osx86 it would make your head spin.

With the first few myzar and jas versions I used.

I got still waiting for root device when starting setup.

And with my most recent two

Uphuck 1.2 and 1.3

It takes about 20mins to boot into setup, and takes about 7 hours to install osx.

Can anyone give me a solution for this????

My specs:

AMD Sempron 3000+ (Mobile 754)

1GB DDR 400 sodimm

40GB Hitachi HDD

DVD Burner

ATI Radeon X200M

Compaq Presario V2418AU

I cant find anyone on the forums that has had the same problem as me

Any help from you guys would be excellent

I've pretty much got the same setup as you (Look at my sig for details). Although I'm running OS X on a box - The CPU is a mobile XP.

The only thing that differs from your setup is that I have the X1300 Pro. So the X200 could be your problem. Note that I'm running 10.4.8 and am not using any hacked drivers. The card works with both Quartz Extreme and Core Image enabled.

The thing I'd be looking at is the motherboard. I'm using one of the most problematic boards out there (SIS chipsets). That might get you closer to where the problem lies. Off the top of my head it sounds like you have a problem with the IDE controllers.

Good luck.

Using a Compaq V2000Z (with the x200 video) I also found it took forever to load off the DVD. Instead, I did the "VMWare method" which takes 30-45 minutes, depending on what options I choose. For a real good guide that got me on the right track, check http://marc88.blogspot.com/2007/03/osx86-i...x200-users.html and follow the directions closely. You need to delete a couple of files and so on. Now this laptop screams with 10.4.9 using the same method and all the hardware works, except USB, I think, and the video is at 1280x768.

Hey just did the VMware to native thing.

And all goes well up until the create your account section where it just hangs on creating your account.

I have tried reinstalling but nothing changes.

And i know its not the DVD because it works fine on my desktop

Any help???

Also when i boot into single user mode and check my cpu usage in top.

100% of my cpu is bieng used by the kernal

I just posted the fix I found that FINALLY WORKED FOR me~!! I have been in the same boat trying for months and trying every version of OSX known to man but here it is '

DISABLE USB IN BIOS and diable it completely, and make sure DVD and HD are on the same IDE cable and it will work, I just got it working for the first time last nite!!!!!!!
