pucca
I got 8F1111 build native installed on my Dell GX620 with Maxxuss's Anti-TPM v1.0, thanks again, Maxxuss. very weird thing... here is the story. I used to have Dell GX280 working with 10.4.3 8F1099 native perfectly, the patched 8F1111 DVD boot with kernel panic, at first I assume is a bad DVD, so, rebuild another image, burn another DVD, same thing. then I put the 8F1111 patched DVD into my GX620, and it boot and install fine. after installed and boot into 8F1111, I shut it down, and put the hard drive back into GX280, it still kernel panic before any graphic screen or the apple logo come up. here are 2 systems differences: GX280, 915G chipset, GMA900, P-4 650, 3.40Ghz, SSE3, XD GX620, 945G chipset, GMA950, P-D 830, 3.0Ghz, SSE3, XD and Speedstep. all the others hardware are basically the same, same generic ENET Card, same DVD-Writer, same USB keyboard and mouse. btw, iTune is v6.0.2 Universal build; this 8F1111 build see my P-D as 2 CPUs! 8F1099 only see P-D as Hyperthreading. Machine Name: Apple Development Platform Machine Model: ADP2,1 CPU Type: ADP2,1 Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 2.99 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB CPU Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL EST CX16 TPR Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 3.2 GHz Boot ROM Version: A05 (Dell Inc.) and I have no sound again on this GX620... even with macgirl's AudioAC97Audio.kext build for 10.4.3 8F1099... hope this help. pucca
Which patch did you use? Was it the ppf or the oah patch method? oah patch - copy over manually not the ISO patcher. pet1
Hmm... I tried that. Exactly the same way I did it for 8f1099. After deleting and copying the patched files, rebooting, the disk works up until when it starts installing sub system 1. It eventually says an error has occured and restart. pucca
i doubt it is worth to try on 8F1111 now... system become unstable. apps used to work under 8F1099 now is not working, like MS Office 2004, photoshop cs, they don't even open. Safari crash me once while I am on this forum. Quicktime player use high cpu cycle after playing movie unless I manually close it. 8F1111 Xbench speed is slower than 8F1099, 78.28 vs 109.67 Quartz Graphic Test and User Interface Test drop the most ... what's up with that... Templeton Peck
I've noticed the same thing. RCW is now dead and that ran pretty well under 8F1099 too. I also noticed the same thing about Xbench, but I don't think the system is actually slower. Under 8F1099, my ATA/100 hard drive scored over 100, meaning it's somehow better than the SATA HDs used in the PowerMacs, which is impossible. In the new release, it's a more realistic 70ish (don't recall actual score). I'm not saying the Xbench results are more accurate with this release, but I do think it's safe to assume that Xbench has been giving erroneous results since 10.4.1, so don't put too much faith in them. Besides Rosetta not working as well, incorrect information in System Profile, and odd Xbench scores, everything seems just as fast and stable as with 8F1099. Bottom line, 8F1099 is the best release so far, and you should wait for the 8F1111A update before going any further. Did you try to compile ATA's Kext and install it again(with kextload from terminal)? I suffered same thing when I installed 10.4.3 on 10.4.1, then I compiled ATA kexts (for my VIA chipset) and all goes faster. You can get it from sources of darwin. pet1
I see. At this point I'll just wait for the next release. In the meantime, I just installed the optional installs from 8f1111. So far so good. Itunes, ichat, and eveything works great. Xbench score is the same as before the optional installs from 8f1111. dutty
ahh. great somebody has got it working... inorder to make 80f1111 installable through vmware we need a extension cache file that has the ps2 controller loaded.. so can somebody please download the ps2 controller kext and kextload it. (it would be good if you'd also load the applepcatageneric kext) and then dump the extension.mkext out of system\library to rapidshare.de or something along those lines. if you need assistance please drop into #osx86.deep on the irc server. thanks!
