Hi all

Today I installed a fresh JaS 10.4.8 with ich7 and Titan video driver included.

It installed fluently. I run it on a Lenovo 3000 N100 type 0768-BJG with Core2Duo 1.8GHz and Nvidia 7300 video board in 1680x1050.

It do recognize the video board and the screen, BUT:

It boot correctly 1 time each 5 boots.

sometimes I loose the mouse arrow (but i can still click if i figure aproximately where is the pointer)

sometimes it boots in 1:3 format. ~ 400x1050

sometimes the screen was flipped 90° clockwise 1050x1680

One time the screen was inversed in the vertical axis. This mode was the best of.

I found it very funny.

I really think that Apple is having good times coding special features for hackintoshers

I'm running jas osx86 10.4.8 with a NVIDIA 7800GT, and I'm having trouble with the display. Everything looks great, but when I move the window, or scroll down in the browser, the image on the screen become smudged. Kind of like when winxp errors and you try to move a window, but it paints the screen in a smudge. I have to minimize the window in osx86 and bring it back up to get rid of the smudge. Is this a driver issue? Any advice?

i have 2 x 256mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS and im having some issues with is once i boot into os x it's ok for about 30 seconds then the icons and logos and seem to glitch and the mouse freezes i'm not entirely sure thaty this is to do with the GFX card but the same install worked fine on my other pc.

any help on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My Hackintosh is based on the:

Asus NVidia GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI-e

After installing Natit Dual v0.2 this card works perfectly.. I did not even had to edit the GeForce.kext file which is written in many Tutorials.

Quartz Extreme and Core Image both Work Fine.

I'm also testing games, until now I was able to play all the games in the highest resolution possible, in my case this is either 1600x1024 or 1280x1024 due to my 22" Apple display.

Games I played:

  • Doom 3 ubyf9.gif
  • Quake 1.1 (OpenGL) ubyf9.gif
  • Quake 3 Arena ubyf9.gif
  • Age of Empires III ubyf9.gif
  • SixtyForce (Nintendo 64 Emulator) ubyf9.gif
  • Command & Conquer Generals ubyf9.gif
  • Command & Conquer Zero Hour ubyf9.gif

Will test the following games in the near future:

  • Quake 2 ubyf9.gif
  • Quake 4 ubyf9.gif
  • Sim City 4
  • Sim City 4 - Rush Hour Expansion
  • Battlefield 1942
  • Wolfenstein RTCW
  • Wolfenstein ET ubyf9.gif
  • Unreal Tournament 2004 ubyf9.gif
  • Zoo Tycoon 2 ubyf9.gif

ubyf9.gif = Universal Binary

My eVGA 7900GT CO worked flawlessly.

But a warning to anyone who wants an 8800. No matter how much you fight with it, it isn't compatible with current drivers due to the fact that it uses a completely new architecture. Just a word for the wise. If 3D is important, avoid the 8800 at all costs.

Outside of that its a damn sick card and I think the 400 dollar price point was totally justified.

Did some additional testing with games, and I still think I made a good choice buying the 7900GS 256MB..

Additional Games I Played in Highest Res/Quality:

  • Quake 2 ubyf9.gif
  • Quake 4 ubyf9.gif
  • Unreal Tournament 2004 ubyf9.gif

Games I played, which won't run smooth in Highest Res/Quality:

  • Sim City 4 - Rush Hour

Sim City is not an Universal Binary which is probably the reason why it's sometimes not fast when running in Highest Res/Quality mode.
