KasperNL
On one of my hackintoshes built upon the Asus P5PE-VM motherboard (intel 865 chipset) the DVD Burner (Pioneer DVR-111) is not playing DVD's neither it's allowing me to burn one (using Toast 8). Does anybody know what this could be? In the System Profiler it shows up as 'Supported (Apple Shipped)'... hecker
You mean, it can only read cd's? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43846-dvd-player-toast-not-working/#findComment-313503 Share on other sites
KasperNL
It reads both CD's and Data-DVD's. But I'm not able to play video DVD's, nor I'm able to burn a CD or DVD, Toast reports: 'No Recorder Found'. hecker
Do you have another DVD-ROM to test your system with? Or another PC to test your DVD-ROM? Just to narrow things down, you know. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43846-dvd-player-toast-not-working/#findComment-313516 Share on other sites
KasperNL
Dear Hecker, I've the following drives here: Pioneer DVR-111 (in my PowerMac G4) Pioneer DVR-111 (in the Hackintosh) LG 16x DVD-ROM (in a linux based server) When I place the LG inside the Hackintosh it still won't play video DVD's, and offcourse it won't let me burn But with both drives I'm able to copy data from DVD's and/or install software from DVD's. Another weird thing is that when I launch VLC.app (Mac Intel version 0.8.6a), it quits automaticly a few seconds after it's launch. I installed VLC to check wether it had to do to DVD Player.app Edited February 28, 2007 by KasperNL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43846-dvd-player-toast-not-working/#findComment-313520 Share on other sites

newelement
ok strange. I left the DVD in the drive, rebooted. I saw that the DVD was not mounted. I started the DVD player and since this was the first time I officially started it manually it asked toset my region code. I set the code and the DVD would now play. Hope this helps someone. SnowHow
I figured out the problem. My onboard video isn't fully supported. If you are having the same problem, your only option is to install a video card that is fully compatible with your OS. peg4a
Hi ! You are right ! I think the problem is the video card wich is not compatible with 3D acceleration. I had the same problem with an ati radeon 9250 video card. Since I changed for a nvidia geforce 5600 and natit driver with 3D no more problem... Perhaps some programs need QE en CI enable...
