nuskool1200
Woops... I mean ROOT DEVICE. Everytime I start up with the DVD it hangs on the gray Apple logo screen. After a while I get the red international "no" symbol. (Circle with line through it). Booting with -v I get "Waiting for boot device" and "Still waiting for boot Device". These come after the touchpad and other things. Also... I'm not a genius when it comes to these thigns, but I can only really see 8 files on the DVD. This dvd was burned two different times. Once with Nero, once with Alchohol 120% BOOT. BOOT.CAT BOOT0. BOOT1H. BOOT1U. BOOTHELP.TXT CDBOOT. CHAIN0. The files I cannot see are: BootCatalog.cat BootImage.img ._Install Mac OS X .DS_Store + .Trashes + .vol + Apple Hardware Test Read Me.. + Applications + Bin Desktop DB Desktop DF + dev etc Installed Bundled Software Only + Install OS X and Bundled... + Japanese - ??? + Library mach mach_kernel + Maxxuss_Patch_Solution_v1.0 + Optional Installs.mpkg + private + Read Before You Install.app + sbin + System tmp + usr var + Volumes + Welcme to Tiger.app + HFS+ Private Data I have IsoBuster. Do I need to chuck everything into one folder and then burn it or something? I was thinking maybe my problem was in the way I was creating my dvd I'm using the 10.4.6 JaS release. Any help would be appreciated! Ferret-Simpson
No, your DVD's are fine. Your HDD/ATAPI controller isn't supported by Darwin/Mac OS X. You can try a decent version of the OS. (The latest Jas 10.4.8/Semthex) But that PROBABLY won't work either. If you're using a laptop you're boned, sorry. A USB drive may do it if your laptop can boot from DVD but don't hold out hope. A Desktop. . . A PCI IDE controller is your best bet. That or again, an External drive. Jelmet
I can´t get rid of the "Still waiting..." msg... I´m trying to install 10.4.11 XxX rev 2 on a Intel DP35dp with P35 Express chipset (IHC9). Any ideas? I already have 10.5.2 installed... it went fine, but I need 10.4.9 or newer (I went with 10.4.11 ´cause I´ve read a lot of good comments about the installer XxX). HDDs and DVDRW are SATA. Any help is welcome! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42413-darwin-says-still-waiting-for-boot-device/#findComment-876449 Share on other sites
