xdesix
oh i forgot to mention that osx works for me in safemode (-x) .. Rapishorrid: its funny that you say that. the same thing happened to me; i think i killed one of my hard drives doing that too.. no idea how; the computer wouldn't post after installing this release.. i just assumed it was the {censored} maxtor drive i used. i then tried it with another drive and it worked; but of course i get the kernal panic. Well it's good to know I'm not alone! The only problem is I'm down one hard drive and don't really want to try it on another.. I only have so many HDs. I really have no idea how it could turn the hard drive into something which doesn't allow the computer to post, but apparently it's possible. And btw my drive was a perfectly good western digital so its not just the drives. sadly.. korrigan
Now I can boot but with 10.4.7 by jas! I got things to do as lan kext, etc.. But it seem to work.. I only have one problem, when I want to see "About this mac..." it makes something like a reboot... : black screen, and next on desktop as if my os x just boot... Don't you know anything about it? SOrry I didn't ear anything about destoying HDs... I can only say try with the 10.4.7, and be crefull of what you select in "customize" install!!! If it doesn't work, try one more choice... and more... and more! Never give up, it paid for me! Have a good night! I'll be back after the week end! Good Luck guys! Just let me know if your OS Xs work! fewtrees
This install has rendered my HD useless, the machine firstly wouldn't get past post and once the install HD was removed it then reported a CMOS error after booting. Is there any way to get my HD back as this is just lame. Knackering HD's is a bit dodgy and I won't be touching this experiment again. I could install the 10.4.8 vp1 version (which I believe the latest one) but I always receive an error related to my ethernet card and it does not start. It is a kernel trap error which you can see at; http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=42736 Is there any way to disable the ethernet card to be able to start the system?
