Hi,

I got Jas OSX 10.4.8 with Semptex kernel working on my Dell E1705 laptop and I love it, apart form a few minor issues - Sleep & Sound not working - using a USB soundcard. Now I want to install it on my desktop. I have a ATI Radeo 9800 Pro card in the desktop and I don't get any higher resolution than 1200x1024 on my 21" Dell Widescreen monitor (wants 1600x1024) which make things look out of proportion on the wide screen and I have no other options in the System Preferences - I have some real bad artificats on the screen as well and I read in this forum that there are ways around it by playing with settings, installing Calisto, etc.... I am not up for that.

Is there an AGP video card that I can buy that will work perfect out of the box, it needs to have a DVI output. Thank you.

hi,

Bro you can try a Nvidia fx 5600, work with natit dual 0.2 (vgas and dvi) extend display but dont mirror. or try a ATI x1600, work dvi with natit auto+dual plist, but dont have a dual display, work dvi if you put a EDID into info.plist.

Or a ati x1950agp, i dont know if work 100%, but a PCI-E in natit forum is listed full work!

I use a BFG 7800 OC AGP that works Beautifully with NvidiaEFI

The only thing is the fan noise, but I;ve been thinkin about modding the bios to lower it.

Great card, works amazing with OSX

And this card would run like {censored} in games because it's recognized as a plain PCI one.

AGPGart is the key if you have an AMD processor.

Well, yeah, I thought that people would assume I was using AGPgart, when I said I used an AGP card.

Yeah, it's much slower when it's ID'd as PCI.

ANd it runs like a dream with AGPgart. Dreamy and creamy and oh so yummy.

Edit: Forgot to mention, you will need to add the device ID to NVDANV40HAL.kext, Geforce.kext, and NVDAResman.kext

Why are some Geforce video cards working and some aren't???

I have a 6600 GT AGP by PNY and it works but it is set to PCI and it runs a bit choppy compared to my laptop...

You need to install AGPgart.kext to get your card recognized as AGP instead of PCI

Out of the box? Dunno.

I have a GeForce 6200 LE in mine and all I had to do was run the Natit installer.

I have x1600 pro AGP, the driver works but no DVI output. How do I put a EDID into info.plist?

I have both nVidia 6600 TDH, and 7600GT TDH. Both works perfectly, full acceleration, all resolution, and dual monitor all supported. A few minor issues with 7600GT, Dashboard's ripple effect crash so I have to drag the widget instead of just click it, and DVI doesn't work, I need to use my LCD panel's analogue input couple with a DVI -> VGA convertor. So I think 6600 is the better choice for you.

Guys,

I've a Asus P5PE-VM motherboard containing a AGP interface.

Since Quartz Extreme and Core Image don't work on the onboard video interface (Intel 865G), I wan't to buy a cheap fully supported videocard.

I'm looking at the 6200 series of NVidia. But I see many different types, which of these types are known supported?

6200TD ??

6200LP ??

Thanks,

Kasper

You best bet really is 6600 series. A plain 6600TDH will be sufficient, and its one of the AGP cards that is really 100% working. QE/CI, ripple effect in dashboard (some board crash dashboard when trying to render ripple effect), dual monitor support, DVI support (some board require changing DVI to VGA using adaptor to work)... etc. If you're able to use AGPGart (Not the light version though), the speed of this card is quite acceptable as well.

Not to mention they're relatively cheap nowadays.

Does it need to be nVidia 6600 TDH

Marked "TDH"?

I'm about to use buy it now, please let me know if the non TDH version will accelerate the dashboard, QE graphics?

Thanks!

Do you know of a Duel core motherboard (Intel E6300) with AGP that will allow my quad screens under Vista (PCI) Matrox G450.

then 2 OSX86 screens AGP?

Obviously Vista works with everything,

My current motherboard will auto disable the PCI video when I install the AGP video.

I would want a better motherboard that will allow PCI and AGP at once.

:tomato:

Crazy I know!

My thought was two screens with the Nvidia and one screen on the G450 (Two for OSX with the nvidia)
