The Dew
Cooler, Are you sure you have an x200M? My device ID is 0x5955. I have a ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Series without the "M", is that card compadible?

cooler_inc
run this program- you will find your device id... http://www2.ati.com/developer/DeviceID.exe That's what I get in DeviceID.exe (see attachment) I just want to know How to run Blender (blender.org), because I get error message. And How to install audio, can you give me a good link with readme. Thnx in advance
mchouin
cooler_inc, did you install the ati drivers? After I did this in vista, my device id changed to Ox5955
errandwolfe
I find this all very odd with people having two different device ID's. All the research I have done clearly states the x200M as device ID 0x5955 with a vendor ID of 0x1002. Mchouin, you said your device ID changed after you installed Vista? Short of flashing a device with a new ROM how is it possible for the device ID to suddenly change?
cooler_inc
I can't install Video(motherboard)Driver for Vista because Service is unavailable http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html and BTW I have Celeron not AMD platform. So what about Blender? Does anybody can just load it?

mchouin
Yeah the iso didnt boot natively on my laptop. I've pretty much given up on a native solution for the x200. On to Ubuntu.
errandwolfe
I wish I could figure out why it boots natively for me and not for others. I am wondering if the different revisions of the x200 are that different that they could prevent boot up on some and not on others.
xXxavier
Dude.. This is exactly what I need. I cant boot from Macx86 no matter what I do. And I tried many versions. Need that guide. Cheers.
RobbieS
Okay I have toshiba satellite m115-1061. When i place the boot cd in the computer, it stops at Synaptics touch pad, then "waiting for root device." However, if I plug in my external dvd burner through the USB port, it picks up the boot device- and finishes loading- however, now I can not see my hard disk in the disk utility. My boot priority is set up for- cd/dvd> usb> fdd> lan> hdd. SO it SHOULD find the CD before it goes to the hard drive. I was wondering if there was a way to set up the laptop- so that it is able to continue to boot with the cd. That way I do not need to plug in the USB burner, and boot soley through the laptop. thanks.

Recognized as a 256 MB Nvidia card by System Profiler, but no kext is loaded. -- I've installed OS X a total of three times. The first installation booted and I tried Natit (with installer) which caused a kernal panic on reboot. I tried repairing permissions with the boot cd but there were no permissions problems. So I installed OS X again, this time with Titan selected for the installation (I didn't use it the first time because it said it's for the NV40 and my card is a NV42). The Titan caused a kernal panic on boot. The third installation booted but the computer refused to shut down. The first installation allowed me to copy files from a flash keychain disk but the mouse/system froze when I tried to eject the disk. The installations take a lot of time, with or without journaling. Hard drive speed seems slow. I've given up on video acceleration and now just want audio to work (as well as being able to shut down the machine). If I can get audio to work I can try to use it with Garageband.
o_OR4N^_^
I had... well an insane amount of trouble trying to get osx up using the Jas and Tubgirl 10.4.8 releases. I will be attempting a simple guide specifically for the Compaq V2000/5000 machines if people are having serious trouble with these particular machines. My main problem was if i didnt delete the usb ohci kext inside the usbfamily kext... rather than deleting the kext completly the machine refused to boot. Macdrive helped with that alot. Anyway this forum helped stacks so thanks guys for the awesome guide, i now have a fully functioning osx install (minus QE/CI of course )
