sandmanfvrga
I was quoting a guy at work a nice machine from Dell. It was killer for $1300 with wide screen display, dual core, etc etc etc. BUT, I can not get XP as an OS? What a load of {censored}. I guess if you called them you can, but this is ridiculous. Forcing this {censored} down our throats is not right. As a System Administrator, when I order systems I will make it clear no Vista. If Dell tries this {censored} with a company like mine, alternatives WILL be sought. Guest:
If you get Vista and disable everything.. it's essentially XP. You might just have a few driver issues here and there. Guest goodtime
You could always just unload vista and install XP on it. gt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41595-no-more-xp-on-dell-machines/#findComment-297600 Share on other sites
sandmanfvrga
Vista without aero, is still Vista. Apple is saying iTunes isn't working with Vista right. SO, turning off aero will still mean you are running Vista and having compatibilty issues. Reloading with XP? They should offer it at first. MrDee
If you are system Admin, you probably own a copy of XP somewhere in your business not in use. Also, probably would own Volume License copy if you run a large network. Pippin
hmm Apple is working on iTunes to work fine on Vista I see no reason to blame Dell for giving you the latest OS. Takuro
Dell has lately been offering machines with no pre-installed operating systems at discount prices. I'm not too sure if this extends to higher-end models, but I know that they have a handful of n-Series desktops to choose from. Check it out: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopi...;l=en&s=dhs They're ready to go with XP, Linux, OS X (ahem, in theory) or any other operating system you decide to use. Jeezoflip
uhm, its kind of self explanitory that they are gonna put the newest software on their machines to look better. So i dont see why you are so PO'ed. And stop cursing, it looks stupid and sounds tasteless. Big Kahuna
With 2000 / XP they did offer a 'buffer' time in which you could go with the older one.. only with business customers though. if you can get it through where you work.. trust me.. do it. That takes you from calling bangalor and increases your chances to get someone in canada/us.
