Guest IanP
My iTunes seems to playing at possibly twice the speed with music. What is causing this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/ Share on other sites

Prawker
Have you tried playing other file formats? what about videos? Radio? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/#findComment-296670 Share on other sites
Guest IanP
No no, everything does it. Radio, movies, everything. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/#findComment-296676 Share on other sites
Neonkoala
Could be an incorrect FSB setting. If you are using a new kernel, mifki, semthex etc, then it may be that you are using an old one that has not detected your FSB speed correctly and therefore is running at abnormal clock speeds. Try upgrading it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/#findComment-296697 Share on other sites
Guest IanP
Upgrading the kernal or iTunes? iTunes is at the newest version (7) Wait...what is FSB? Can I edit it manually? peekay_us
It's the kernel you'll want to try updating. See this Rammjet tutorial: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...updating+kernel Best, PK Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/#findComment-296764 Share on other sites
Guest IanP
I don't think I can update the kernal any further than it's current, 8.8.1, because I only have SSE2. All of the ones there seem to be either for AMD only, or SSE3 kernel. Oh wait... is 8.8.1 the latest kernel? peekay_us
I meant you need a newer version of the 8.8.1 kernel. But if that's not possible, try to change your FSB as is shown in the link I posted before. Good luck, PK I don't think I can update the kernal any further than it's current, 8.8.1, because I only have SSE2. All of the ones there seem to be either for AMD only, or SSE3 kernel. Guest IanP
I came out to 100 as a frequency. Is this plausible? I want to make sure before I make any changes. (I did sysctl hw.busfrequency; it came to 400,000,000; divided by 4,000,000 = 100) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/#findComment-296792 Share on other sites

neotux
Koh-i-Noor: I had the same problem with the onboard ac97 sound card. I fixed this way: Go to Applications -- Utilities -- MIDI Audio Configuration (or something like that, sorry, I have spanish language selected). There try to change the Frequency in Audio Output to 48000. Also try to select the correct default audio output in the comboboxes (in my case, AC97 Audio (PCM)) I hope this works for you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41480-itunes-playing-at-15x-speed/#findComment-298617 Share on other sites
Guest Koh-i-Noor
Thanks neotux...I will try that after I figure out how to un-f*ck my kernel. Guest Ramm
Damnit! Nothing is working. The fsb thing doesn't work, nor the frequency change. DAMNIT! nova-prosp3kt
I'm in the same boat, Considering buying a cheap usb sound dongle, but I really dont wanna have to, using the latest semthex kernel on a true 10.4.8 just ended in a kernel panic =\ I've tried everything to no avail. Me too! I have a Compaq EVO D510 (well, I think that's the model, could be D520 as well), and having the same problem. The kernel panic, you are getting, seems to come from your SSE support. The lastest kernel only is SSE3, and you seem to have only SSE2, when I am reading your post. Yeah, I know, it sucks. Can anyone make a SSE2 kernel or something? And, is it possible to make a patch, which only patches the new functions, using Diff, or something? consolation
use prasys' auto updater to get the newest semthex kernel WITH sse2 support and FSB auto detection. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=33039 If that doesn't work for you; manual add you fsb value to com.apple.boot.plist , search the forum you WILL find the instructions. Check what your fsb is set to in BIOS when you boot up if you are not sure of the value. Guest Ramm
Must I repeat that I only have SSe2 and kernel updates fail. And maybe if you read the entire post you would see that the FSB change has no effect.
