I have just installed BF2 on my new 20" iMac 256mb video card, I have set all of the settings to High and am running it at the highest settings and at highest monitor refresh rate 1400 x something?, anti alaising at 4X. It runs great, no real lagging e.t.c

The graphics are good, I just wonder if they can be sharper or I am missing anything as some of the grass and leaves are a bit jagged on the edges, also when you go to the menu screen to select guns e.t.c they are slighty blurred.

Is this because I need to asjust more settings or because it;s a massive monitor 20" so is going to look a tad blurred up close?

It runs full screen but do you think it will help if I change the ratio so that it runs corrrect widescreen if it is not at the moment - I can't tell really?

Also on the ATI settings in windows do I set it as Open GL or Direct 3D?

Firstly - dont post duplicate posts in multiple forums.

Anyway, monitor refresh wont affect an iMac cos its an LCD display with a fixed refresh rate which is 60Hz (afaik) - setting it to anything other than the LCD's native rate will degrade performance.

Also, make sure you're running at the LCD's native resolution, otherwise the graphics will be scaled, and will look {censored}. The native resolution of the 20'' iMac is 1680 x 1050. Run everything at that resolution and it will look MUCH better.

If you cant get BF2 to run at that specific resolution, there are usually programs (or tweaks in the ATI control panel) you can use to force it.

I second that.

You need to modify your launch shortcut to be like this:

"C:\Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Your actual file location may vary, however. Adjust it accordingly.

This works for me to play BF2 on a 1440x990 Resolution.

Cheers,

I have added that setting and it seems to sort the aspect ratio out fine.

Is there anythimg else that can be done to tweak the graphics as some of the graphics still look quite jagged on the edges, like the grass and palm's e.t.c

or it is basically the best the card can do?

Hmm.. no its the best that battlefield can do..

Keep in mind you're playing a 4 year old game that was originally made for the ' lowest common denominator ' pc of the time, something like an p3-1ghz or and athlon 800 or so..

The graphics look like that, because - well.. they look like that.. low textures, meant to run on lower machines.

If you want something that looks a little better, maybe Battlefield 2 modern combat on the 360 would suit?

Battlefield 2 was launched in 2005.
