This is ridiculous. What about all of the OSX and Windows XP themes you can find for pretty much any phone that supports such customisation? There's dozens for Symbian based devices alone! I fail to see why a lawsuit was required.

there is no hardware made by apple, any chip or cable or board they use are made next door to let's say "asus" , i can bet even stickers with apple logo is not made by them

apple exist just like name - nothing else

that for they have tons of patents and rights to them "names" only

:)

I used to work for a small company here in NH that had Apple as a customer. We reworked (Added Circuitry Modification) mainboards of theirs and they did not appear to have been designed as a standard off the shelf part. They definitely weren't something you could go and buy at your local Mom and Pop computer store.

The components were of course outsourced, but the board was Apple designed. They may have contracts with large board companies, but the boards are exclusively Apple's, and held to tight quality control.

Can you find an approximate equivalent? Sure you can, but good luck finding one with the TPM containing the proprietary code used to enable the proprietary operating system.

I don't know if your sarcastic or not very experienced in life, but before Apple engineered the switch to Intel Macs, they made PPC macs and before that 68k Macs. Show me the off the shelf parts for those please? Frank Gehry doesn't create architecture because he uses the same concrete and glass suppliers?

So, you're telling me that Apple is sueing someone for copying their Icons for a phone of which they illegally used the name form anothe rcompany.

And no, apple doe snot make anythign anymore. Theyd esign it.

Their laptops are made by the same company that make amongst others, dell laptops.

And after reading about the numerous problems people are having with their Macbook pro's, right down to the keys becoming completely worn off within 6 months, I'll pass on that piece of overpriced junk.

No wonder they're making a 15% profit margin.

They've fooled people into believing that the Yugo's they're selling are porsches.

I just read somewhere on the net that apple has a avg profit 45% to 50%

Thats what i call a healty profit

You must be referrign to this:

http://www.businessweek.com/technology/con...050921_4557.htm

Those are gross profits per unit. Not taking in account cost of running the Apple business etc.

Also, if you read the article, you can see why Apple stuff is so expensive.

It's not because it's made better, as the MBP fiasco's show. But because Jobs wants to

maximize the per unit profit. Choosing cheaper parts to met those goals.

The article says he will not accept anything that does not meet at least a 20% profit margin.

Great for invetsors. Not so good for those buying the cheaply made, overpriced {censored} Apple

is flogging today.

I just had a run with iPhony skin a few days and it's not really my "thing". When you think about it, who wants a "poser iPhone" on a Windows Mobile device in the first place? Not to mention you would have to install 3 more apps and patch dialer to make it look like an iPhone. Also them apps will slow your device and run up memory usage because if the the many images the phone has to keep in memory. I would also have to customize too many productivity apps I do use such as the PocketRSS, WeatherPanel, Media Player, Mort Player, Spb pocket Plus, and a host of other skinable appications. it's just too much trouble just to make it look like a fruit.

Don't get me wrong, the skinners and rippers did a great job for something they aren't getting payed for. It's not just for the majority of mobile users and most people would not spend anything longer than an hour to customize a phone. Eventually they will get tired of the skin and move on to another great looking skin, in a few weeks time.

Just another Apple hissy fit to gain attention, IMO.
