Soündless
are there any motherboards at the moment that support 2 quad cpus? it would be kind of cool to beat apple to running mac on 8 cores. eggie
i have never seen nor heard of a dual socket 775 motherboard i think the mac pro is socket 775......i guess just matching what the mac pro has got will have to do or you could get a mac pro and chuck in a couple of quad core xeons in it but will cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38596-dual-cpu-lga-775-motherboard/#findComment-275484 Share on other sites
Soündless
i looked at that, but it was more expensive. they had dual xeon boards a while back Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38596-dual-cpu-lga-775-motherboard/#findComment-275486 Share on other sites
ChuckDSanders
Nope, you won't find one either. Understand that no socket 775 chipset has a north bridge sophisticated enough to allow the communications between 2 procs. In addition, I am assuming intel had to use FBDIMMS in their Xeons due to the lack of built in memory controller such as their AMDs counterparts. Xeons are the next best bet, however very expensive. It is cheaper to get a MacPro than build your own Dual Core CPU intel at this time. However, there is always AMD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38596-dual-cpu-lga-775-motherboard/#findComment-276292 Share on other sites
