GanTech
Look at my sig for specs. My firewire iChat works garage band dvd burner everything except sound. And for that I just got a usb cmedia and everything works perfectly. XBench 119. My dual monitors work with CI & QE. I HAVE A MAC. BUT I'm also dual booting with WinXP Media Center using chain=0 My WinXP install is on SATA and the MAC is on PATA I have a huge usb drive for the mac and one for windows where all the movies, porn and other tidbits go. I used crossover to install winrar to do some rar work because I STILL can't get macrar configured right if anyone can help me get that right let me know. I used Tubgirls DVD as I just never could get JAS's disks to work for me without kernal panic. ALSO that stupid ppf-o-matic works flawlessly under windows but craps out everytime under OSX. I don't have the first clue why. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37838-how-is-your-osx86/#findComment-269757 Share on other sites
Proteo
Actually my current setup is probably the cheapest but greatest computer I've ever had (see my sig, I bought it with OS X in mind). I'm amazed how well the OS uses the hardware resources, and I plan to keep this machine for a while, till I can save enough for a real Mac (an iMac, perhaps next year). I'd never, ever, would go back to Windows. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37838-how-is-your-osx86/#findComment-269772 Share on other sites
spanakorizo
everything works for an OSX and works perfect before 5' i installed my SATA and now its super some questions: can it recognize my PCI card Pinnacle PCTV with bt8x8 chip? (PCI CARDS: says nothing) i can't think of anything else missing there is a remote control in COM1 but how could it work? (it belongs to the PCTV and in XP i use it with uICE) anyway ,my test period is over its time now to buy a good ATA133 disk and install the OSX on it (all this time i have it for testing in a 4gb VERY OLD disk!) cmdshft
Look at my sig for specs. This machine was not built for OS X in mind, in fact, it was built 3 years ago, and i only recently did an upgrade to the mobo and CPU. Thank god that I did, it really helped my OSx86 dream. The only downside is that I cannot get my second monitor to work yet, still waiting to see whats going on with Natit or some other driver kext that will solve that. Otherwise, it's everything I expected, and then some. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37838-how-is-your-osx86/#findComment-280009 Share on other sites
the creeper
I installed jas 10.4.8 with the amd combo selected during the install. It booted the first time with no errors. It saw almost all my hardware. USB, firewire, ritemaster DVD burner, onboard audio, onboard Ethernet, all worked without a problem. GeForce video card works, after I edited the GeForce.kext to stop the kernel panic it was causing. Only hardware not working is my PCI Linksys wifi card (WMP54GX), it has the Airgo chipset and have yet to find a driver for it. Sailfish
Couldn't be happier! Running a large equestrian magazine graphics department on several of these with CS2. No issues at all except for the run of the mill expected stuff. We cut the number of systems sitting around in half by dual booting with XP.
