cringemaster
I used a 1.66 GHz Intel Mac Mini Core Duo, with a Western Digital 160 GB External "My Book" USB Drive. I booted my 9A321 DL-DVD and ran the installer. (I Have 3 Paritions, One is 60 GB (with an exact replica of my 60 internal HD), a 12 GB empty partition, and the third devoted to anything else I need it for.) Once i got to the install screen, i first did a test install to the 12 GB partition, which got off to a rough start when i tried to "gather personal information from another partition of this macintosh" and the setup assistant crashed, but after re-opening it and completeing it manually (with fake info of course ), leopard was running smoothly on my intel mac. After messing with leopard for a few minutes i decided to see if i could upgrade an existing installation, paticularly my "backup" volume, which is cloned with SuperDuper! and updated weekly from my internal drive. the DVD installer ecognized 10.4.8 fine, but after the install, this is what i got each time: First This: Then This: Maybe someone has some insight to this, or has tried the same thing. Adrian Fogge
That is a definitive kind of. I have managed to get a Macbook Pro 17" C2D to do the upgrade successfully, however no other systems. Usually on a Mac Mini or a Mac Pro, I will get the Kernel Panics on boot up if I do an "Upgrade" from 10.4.8 to 10.5-9a321. On the iMacs and a Powerbook G4, I will get stuck at the grey completing installation screen forever (the one that normally loads the video and lets the user configure the system) if I do an "Upgrade" from 10.4.8 to 10.5-9a321. I do not have an issue if I do an Archive & Install. alloutmacstoday
i think you have to do an archive and install, because the erase and install has never worked on my macbook (except for on an external HD) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37404-has-anyone-succesfully-upgraded-to-leopard-from-tiger/#findComment-266741 Share on other sites
DsurioN
I updated my tiger installation to leopard and it worked just fine. I dont think using info from another partition works, as you described, but I was sucessful just by using the "Upgrade" option. I'm now using tiger however because leopard had a few bugs and I somehow corrupted my whole HD :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37404-has-anyone-succesfully-upgraded-to-leopard-from-tiger/#findComment-268900 Share on other sites
Fizzeh
Worked on my iBook a few times...and I don't think it ever worked on my power mac g5. Just do an archive and install, and then delete previous systems from the root.
