auqs10
Jalavoui, I found the logs from a Kubuntu Live CD after launching the system. Sure, they are quite large so I had to archive them. The logs archived are dmesg, syslog and udev (all are plain text documents). How should I upload, or where to send it, because the upload is not working? jalavoui
http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/ iwi2100 rev 510 i'm trying to fix the panic iwi3945 rev 511 add new code for interrupts i think you can upload files in iwidarwin site i also have the same version with the old fimware to upload. ok it's in http://iwidarwin.googlecode.com/files/iwi3945-test.dmg.zip please separate the logs so i can understand them - first test rev 511 and them the iwi3945-test.dmg.zip Jalavoui, I found the logs from a Kubuntu Live CD after launching the system. if you're testing the old linux ipw3945 i can't use it because it as a different firmware and obsolete code you need to test the new linux project - iwlwifi. it as all the code i need to know Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-445558 Share on other sites

downdowndown
I tried installing this...then I noticed that it says for 10.4.7. Does it work on JaS 10.4.8? auqs10
Jalavoui you are right. The Kubuntu Feisty 7.04 (Latest) uses the ipw3945 drivers, and the logs I found are from this driver. I will try to find a Linux flavour that uses the new code. Any suggestion about it? Evil_Cartman
Damn forum again won't send me notifications about new posts here... Found a lot of new posts today. please separate the logs so i can understand them - first test rev 511 and them the iwi3945-test.dmg.zip Networkselector still does not respond to (1). It shows me an incorrect mac: "Adapter en4 (00:00:00:09:00:13)" instead of real adapter config. Furthermore, I've found rfkill=0 again, damn it... Not my computer fault I think because last time I pressed h/w switch right in networkselector and everything went OK... Logs looks too "dirty" and I've packed them after cleaning all entries were present before each rev. Forum upload is down so get it here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-445822 Share on other sites
auqs10
Hi Evil_Cartman, try to edit the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist in order to have the adapter as BSD Name address en1, by rearanging the devices (put the 3945 card as en1 and the one assigned as en1 move it to other BSD Name enX). I think this will give you the right Ethernet address for this type of card. JustJoe
Jalavoui you are right. The Kubuntu Feisty 7.04 (Latest) uses the ipw3945 drivers, and the logs I found are from this driver. I will try to find a Linux flavour that uses the new code. Any suggestion about it? With Ubuntu you can use the Synaptic package manager to uninstall the ipw drivers and install the iwlwifi drivers very easily. This site explains the hell out of it http://monkeyblog.org/ubuntu/installing/ Oh. You said Kubuntu. You can still gain a load of insight from it. If you haven't found it yet, your default package manager is Adept. Both programs are GUIs for 'apt' Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-445896 Share on other sites
p0macs
try to edit the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist in order to have the adapter as BSD Name address en1 Does not works for me. I changed it, now the interface is en1, but this change is not permanent. Maybe this is not the right place to change it in NetworkInterfaces.plist, because it will be changed back automatically after a while..., by some process. Two options are still working in networkSelector: option 5 -to exit option 1 - to turn on/off card : it does not makes any visual feeback (the option is always "Turn card off", but it turns off and on indeed - I can see it in the system.log. The last entry in system.log at turning on the card is iwi3945: MAC address: and the correct MAC address. On my system I have an en1 (at least in NetworkInterfaces.plist) - something with AirPort_Brcm43xx. It is not shown however in ifconfig, nor in System Preferences / Network. auqs10
Thank you JustJoe for indications. I started to download the Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy (Tribe-5) latest beta version that is including the new iwlwifi driver. I will post somehow its logs, but here http://www.filefactory.com/file/35f870/ are the archived logs of the iwi3945-test.dmg version. Past rev's gives me correct mac with networkSelector, and the `ipconfig` shows me correct mac right now. We must give some time to jalavoui to think about that incorrect mac problem. Thanks anyway! downdowndown
So I got the Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG to work on my HP dv1000. But the internet is either slow as hell (well, first of all, it's slow as hell) and the pages don't fully load. And then sometimes pages don't really load at all. With Windows, the internet works perfectly fine of course, but there are some issues with the Mac. Is this normal, or is there a way to fix it. Wireless is detected as an Ethernet i think. jalavoui
iwi2100 rev 512 fixes for last kernel panic iwi3945 rev 513 removed anoying msgs from interrupt logs Does not works for me. I changed it, now the interface is en1, but this change is not permanent. Maybe this is not the right place to change it in NetworkInterfaces.plist, because it will be changed back automatically after a while..., by some process. try to - uninstall the iwi3945.kext -delete the interface from network in system preferences - reboot -install iwi3945.pkg - goto system preferences - network this might help all iwidrivers except iwi2200 should only use networkSelector options: 1) to turn the card on/off 5) to exit all other options aren't ready to work. don't bother with the mac address in networkSelector, it's only important to have it display correctly in system preferences Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-445996 Share on other sites

Evil_Cartman
iwi3945 rev 513 networkSelector still shows me an incorrect mac inside itself. note than I have no any "old" interfaces in sys.prefs/network because I even never start it. but I've checked before fresh install of this rev, and yes, there was no any kind of "old" interface. for the future my complains, I'll be always sure that interfaces list is clear. finally please note (excuse me for repeating) than iwi logs and ifconfig shows me absolutely correct mac, only networkselector displays wrong one. dmesg.txt ioreg.txt system.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-446066 Share on other sites
Dag0n
just a little side note for those concerned about wep wpa etc and security, configure access on your router to only allow certain mac addresses access, i am aware that finding and spoofing mac addresses is easy to do, but also with a copy of backtrack/kismet/kismac wireless security is easy to break, if someone is determind they will get in, but for an average neighbour that is trying to steal your internet, this should work fine for prevention methods, i aslo advise this ontop of your current settings Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-446078 Share on other sites
spanakorizo
i know that the driver is not working yet (panics are gone) but is it supposed to do something with network selector app? cause i press 2 and nothing is happening. keep up testing i need this for my laptop Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-446093 Share on other sites

auqs10
Even this latest beta version of Kubuntu (Tribe5) uses ipw3945 driver. KKTK
Hi, I have ThinkPad R60 with "Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG" (VEN_8086 DEV_4227). In System Preferences I can see new device "PCI Ethernet Slot pci8086,4227" but device is not active - "The cable for ... is not plugged in." networkSelector shows this: Welcome to the insanelyMac SpacePort 0.1 Adapter en6 (00:00:00:09:00:19) [mode: 3 led: on] 1) Turn card off ... but this is not true - led is off and looks like hardware is also off. jalavoui
iwi3945 rev 515 new rfkill code iwi2200 rev 516 same rfkill code you can check the code at configureConnection(). this should work for most wireless devices. i find similiar code in the kismac project. the problem will be to find out the right changes for iwi3945. because there are several ways to do this, after testing rev 515, try this one - it as small changes you can also get xcode and try to help fixing this. please post separated logs for each version iwi3945.dmg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/111/#findComment-447118 Share on other sites
