Here's how Press WinKey + R to open the Run window, or open Command Prompt. Type the following command into the Open textbox, or from the Command Prompt: sysprep /generalize or slmgr.vbs –rearm or rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows Click OK or press ENTER. Reboot the computer, and Windows Vista will give users another 30 more days for users to activate Windows Vista. Honestly, only solution I've found that is perfect at this point is KMS server activation using Melinda Gates image mounted in VMware. Problem with that is, it only works for Enterprise and Business. Just because the "timer" looks like it's stopped, that's not the only thing going on in Vista to keep tabs on whether it's legit or not - and it has nothing to do with Windows Update sooo... just because you might not visit Windows Update doesn't mean you're "safe." If you're using it illegally, the best you're going to get out of it is 30 days without a key, then you'll end up reinstalling. Nice to see people wasting all their talents on getting one over on "The Man," but really, couldn't you people interested in creating these cracks/hacks/patches/workarounds find something to create that you could sell and make a living off? For all those people thinking "Oh I'll just block access to Windows Update and I'll be ok" or those that think Microsoft only uses Windows Update to "keep in touch" with your computer are simply ignorant, which is a given anyway.
