matt_olsen
I know everyone is obsessed with running Tiger on thier PC, but has anyone thought of the older versions - Panther, Jaguar... Steve Jobs said they had x86 versions of them and it's impossible that they haven't leaked. Hasn't anyone tried or at least found something about that? I'm just curious. Rammjet
The first Intel version of OSX was Tiger. There is no earlier version out there to even try to patch. asap18
Well, the first public intel version, during his keynote steve jobs clearly stated that each version of OS X hasd been developed side by side with an x86 and PPC versions "just in case". I doubt highly that these copies will ever get out. Its not like ADC people downloading leopard, these are strict internal builds. Rammjet
I doubt that any of the internal builds were finished/polished versions - just prototypes. Otherwise, Apple wouldn't have made such drastic changes starting with 10.4.3. They would have worked out the problems with a much earlier build if they had made any sort of real beta or final candidate build for say 10.3. trav1085
I'm also sure that Apple employees have access (probably only some) to those unreleased builds but there isn't enough demand to risk your job in leaking one of those files. They are too buggy and unstable. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36863-other-x86-versions/#findComment-262494 Share on other sites
skn
They are too buggy and unstable. I don't agree they were buggy and unstable. Darwin is available for x86 since the beginning and proved to be very stable. Remember that Mac OS X is basically Darwin + GUI (Aqua).
