kgp
Fast and painless sequential OTA update (3.97 GB) from macOS 26.4.1 (25E253) to macOS 26.5 (25F71). Same build as macOS 26.5 RC. OCLP correctly selects Kernel Debug Kit 26.5 build 25F71 as the perfect match. Modern Audio, modern Wi-Fi and AWDL continue working flawlessly. 👍 Spoiler Spoiler My productive system continues working perfectly - including sleep/wake - like Swiss clockwork 🇨🇭🙂 Tahoe Drive Icons Pack – macOS/Windows/Linux/Disk-Format Inspired Editions Stacks In Da Place: Useful context information: a.) deeveedee
If you're not seeing this update, it may be because you already have it. It's just the 26.5 RC (which is still working perfectly with VoodooHDA.kext 3.3.4 for audio and itlwm for Intel Wi-Fi - no root patches, SIP csr-active-config = <01000000>). For those who haven't been able to get external HDMI working on their HP Comet Lake laptops, here's a thread that may help you. Happy hacking! Zevgoli
Soooo. I tried the update to the release version of Tahoe. You may remember I dropped out of the beta program because of too many issues. Again the initial install went as expected until the final reboot was finished. Then AGAIN I got the you have been updated to Tahoe screen which leads to the Apple account login which goes nowhere. I rebooted and went into recovery blew away my SSD and reinstalled. This way I was able to restore my settings via Time Machine and I am back in with the updated OS. But what a rigmarole. I guess any further upgrades may result in the same method of updating. i noted in the previous post that a full installer was used. I may try that next time. I didn't see anything to click on at the Apple account screen. You either sign in or not. Both end up stalling and not moving ahead. But really I shouldn't get these screens at all. For all of the initial Tahoe betas things went fine and after the final boot I got to the desktop or was prompted for my login password. Lately I've sometimes gotten to my desktop and can navigate fine but on reboot I get presented with the....you have been upgraded to Tahoe....blah blah. If this happens again I will look for something at the left bottom. Ludox
Since I updated to version 26.5, my system has slowed down quite a bit, especially since while I'm working with Final Cut, my SSD is working harder than before. My timeline has slowed down and isn't as smooth as it used to be. I was wondering if you've noticed this slowdown and how you fixed it. Thanks. I partially solved it by uninstalling FCPX and reinstalling it and it improved the speed a bit. 1 2 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362739-release-macos-tahoe-265/#findComment-2850234 Share on other sites

SSDs always gave me a bit of trouble because they were quite slow in comparison. An important tip I always use is to run GParted Live from a USB flash drive to format the SSD (if needed) using the slowest mode, since it cleans and adjusts the clusters. https://gparted.org/livecd.php If you don’t have Windows, you can use Fedora Media Writer to “burn” the USB flash drive. https://github.com/FedoraQt/MediaWriter/releases/tag/5.3.1 5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362739-release-macos-tahoe-265/#findComment-2850239 Share on other sites

Sometimes it may be a separate issue related to missing “drivers” (kexts) in the beta version. It’s interesting how Apple has been abandoning “older” hardware (on purpose?) to avoid continuing support — at least in my opinion. It would also be interesting to check whether the USB kext you’re using happens to match the proper SMBIOS or not. I used to face this freezing issue both when using SSDs and even with NVMe drives. This is my Mac Mini NVme speed. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362739-release-macos-tahoe-265/#findComment-2850242 Share on other sites

Frank Nitty
Hello everyone. I've been long-time member of this site, but I'm finally making a return after a long hiatus. It's been quite a while since I've put together a fully functional Hackintosh and the last one I got working is stuck on 10.13.6 High Sierra. I started my own YouTube channel not too long ago and I'm wanting to turn a PC that I recently built into a Hackintosh and have it running macOS 26 (Tahoe) or macOS 15 (Sequoia). My desire would be to document the process and I would appreciate whatever pointers any kind soul is willing to share w/ me in preparation for that process. I speak more a/b it in the following thread which I have linked below: Edited May 15 by Frank Nitty 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/362739-release-macos-tahoe-265/#findComment-2850322 Share on other sites
