Very easy update on my newest hack.  My system config is as follows:

  • HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini 65W (i5-8600 / UHD630 / 32GB DDR4)
  • Open Core 1.0.7 / SIP csr-active-config = <01000000> / No root patches
  • VoodooHDA.kext 3.3.4
  • Multi-output device configured with Audio MIDI Setup: speakers on 1st output, subwoofer on 2nd output.  Audio quality is outstanding.

Incremental Update

EDIT: I am extremely impressed with the responsiveness of this hack.  Even with only Intel UHD630 graphics, Tahoe responsiveness is excellent.  This is a perfect mini hack for a multimedia platform.

New version — I heard on Apple user forums that the icons have returned. I will install it first and then report back here. Here is the link for anyone who wants it. 😊

Fast, painless and tiny (900 MB) sequential OTA update from macOS 26.4 to macOS 26.4.1 (25E253).

New Kernel Debug Kit 26.4.1 build 25E253 available at Apple but not yet available at Dortania.

-> For now running OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly (amfipassbeta variant) with Kernel Debug Kit 26.4 (build 25E246) from macOS 26.4.

AppleHDA, Wi-Fi and AWDL are fully functional. The same likely applies to OCLP-Mod 3.1.7 and OCLP-Plus 3.1.9.

Useful context information:

a.) EFI-Folder distribution

b.) Experimental Fork of OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly

c.) OCLP-Mod

d.) OCLP-Plus

e.) X299 Guidelines

I'll leave this here in case future me, or someone else, needs it.

Looks like Tahoe, in particular, is very picky about hardware configuration. And what I've learned in the past two days of pulling my hair out trying to understand why the hell does it automatically reboot to MacOS installer, even though I already made changes that should, in theory, fix the issue (graphics in my case) is that, for Tahoe, you can't resume the installation after changing/fixing things in your config. I don't remember this being an issue with previous versions. Maybe this was always the case, but...I think previous version weren't so stubborn.

You can't just change something, and then resume installation. You need to reinstall from scratch. From the USB, or local recovery, doesn't seem to matter, but it has to be started all over again. You do not need to wipe the partition, but you do need to start the installation from the beginning.

Also, if you want to reinstall without wiping, make sure the version you want to install is at least the same if not newer than the one you're writing over. Otherwise it won't let you select the partition for installation.

Also, you need to fix the iGPU first! So, first ensure you have the iGPU correctly set up (if the SMBIOS you selected has an iGPU), that you can boot with it, and that you have video output, before you attempt the reinstallation.

But their releases are identical right?

I don't know what's up with Dortania. Still missing Kernel Debug Kit 26.4.1 build 25E253 although it is available at Apple. I don't know if KDK 26.4 (build 25E246) and KDK 26.4.1 (build 25E253) are identical. In my opinion, It would not make sense for Apple to release two identical KDKs.  There might be minor changes that however seem not to affect OCLP which works flawlessly with KDK 26.4 (build 25E246).

That is strange.  The Dortania KDK mirror is supposed to be automated.

Yes that's strange there. There is KDK 26.4.1 (build 25E253) at Apple but not at dortania. Just checked it again.

The new macOS 26.4.1 (25E253) Powered by Clover revision: 5172 (master, commit 6020c4917) is installed, and the icons have returned. OCLP-Plus 3.1.9 (Tahoe Patch Set) Wi-Fi and sound are working.

Kernal_Debug_Kit_26.4.1_build_25E253.dmg is Apple's, not at dortania.

Oook... So, MacOS update went seamlessly (as opposed to the installation I tried a couple days ago). :))

Problem: there is no KDK from Dortania. Aaand, apparently, even if you manually download and install the one from Apple, and try to patch with OCLP-Mod, and even though it says it found KDK 26.4.1, I now seem to be in some sort of boot loop, most likely caused by the patches.

Is OCLP-Mod not able to use the previously downloaded KDK? If not, maybe this could be implemented... Something like: Browse KDKs (if you already downloaded it). I'm not quite sure what/how is OCLP-Mod usually using those KDKs, but, it feels like an option to use an existing KDK should probably be a good idea. :) Just saying.

So, I guess I'll have to revert for now. But...do you guys know of a way to use root patches with a previously installed KDK? It sounds like it should work, but, in my experience so far, it looks like it doesn't.

Currently OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly automatically takes KDK of 26.4 and still works flawlessly.

Currently OCLP-Plus 3.1.9 (Tahoe Patch Set) Automatically uses Kernal_Debug_Kit_26.4.1_build_25E253 wi-fi and sound works flawlessly.

So sound works with KDK 26.4 on Tahoe 26.4.1...? Did it get it right?

Yes.. Sound, Wi-Fi and AWDL!

Did you change the source in the code or is the KDK for 26.4.1 now available in the Dortania repository? I am currently not at home and writing from my mobile phone..

I just downloaded it from Apple and Currently OCLP-Plus 3.1.9 (Tahoe Patch Set) does not install it forcibly.
