?? Does OCLP Plus now directly download the KDK from Apple or did you download the KDK manually?

No, but if you load the KDK manually, everything will be fine.

In my opinion we currently have two intermediate workarounds for 26.4.1:

1.) Apply root patches and OCLP will just take the closest match, which is KDK 26.4 and works flawlessly.

2.) Download KDK 26.4.1 from Apple and install it manually. OCLP will then use the already installed KDK 26.4.1 during root patching. Drawback: the download from Apple requires an Apple developer account!

However the main question remains: what happens to dortania and their GitHub repository?

Yes.. Sound, Wi-Fi and AWDL!

Looks like OCLP-3.0.0 Nightly and OCLP-Mod are handling "closest match" a bit differently.

OCLP-Mod selected build 25E5233c to fall back to.

No direct match found for 25E253, falling back to the closest match

Closest match: 25E5233c (26.4)

Recommended KDKs are as follows:

- KDK build version: 25E5233c

- KDK version: 26.4

Whereas OCLP-3.0.0 Nightly selected build 25E246.

No direct match found for 25E253, falling back to closest match
Closest Match: 25E246 (26.4)
Following KDK is recommended:
- KDK Build: 25E246
- KDK Version: 26.4

With different results.

Looks like 25E5233c, while being probably closer....doesn't quite work. Whereas 25E246...still does. Also, even if you can manually download the correct KDK for 26.4.1....I think there might be something wrong with it, cause it doesn't quite work (just like 25E5233c). At least with OCLP-Mod. With OCLP-Plus/OCLP-3.0.0 Nightly, I don't know. I haven't tried.

I think OCLP-Mod would probably work with 25E246 as well, but...not sure how to convince it to use it. :))

So yes, it does work with OCLP-3.0.0 (requires -amfipassbeta boot-arg), but that's probably because it also selects a different KDK to fall back to.

I thought they have the same core (OCLP itself) but looks like there are a few differences in the way they selects the KDKs.Interesting. Very interesting.

1. only if you use OCLP-3.0.0 (or OCLP-Plus...probably, can't confirm). Doesn't work with what OCLP-Mod considers closest match. But that might be because of the actual build, not necessarily because of the patcher itself.

2. again, only with OCLP-3.0.0 Nightly (or OCLP-Plus). Does not work with OCLP-Mod, for some reason.

If I properly remember, 25E5233c is not the closest match and is of one of the 26.4 betas. Closest match is definitely 25E246 of 26.4 which has been released approximately 1 1/2 weeks ago. BTW.. I did realize already during the 26.4 beta drama that OCLP-Mod does not download the closest match. I don’t know why. At this point it did not matter anyway. In any case, OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly of Dortania is the baseline and starting point of all actually distributed variants. Any differences have been introduced subsequently.

You're right. 25E5233c is Tahoe 26.4 Beta 4. I got confused because it was a higher number than 25E246 (25E52... vs 25E24...). But you're right, it's actually older than 26.4 final build.

Could be a bug with OCLP-Mod... But yeah, kinda weird.

At this point, I don't think it's worth downloading 26.4.1 KDK, even if you could. Cause...with OCLP-Mod, you can't use it (I mean, it says it's ok, and it's skipping download and all that, but...it doesn't actually work). And with OCLP-3.0.0 Nightly, personally, I haven't tried to install KDK 26.4.1, but also didn't need to, cause everything works fine with 26.4.

Everything works fine with OCLP 3.0.0 Nightly (amfipassbeta variant) and KDK 26.4 under macOS 26.4.1 👍

However, it remains unclear why the KDK for 26.4.1 (build 25E253) has not yet been added to the Dortania KdkSupportPkg, as this repository plays a key role in the overall workflow, especially for automatic KDK detection in OCLP.

Just a theory why OCLP-Mod might think the closest match is 25E5233c. Release date of 26.4 Beta (25E5233c) was after (or at least on Dortania's side was after) 26.4 (build 25E246).

Since 26.5.1 was not an option, it falls back to 25E5233c. So...closest match may be...but not a good match, in my tests.

But yeah, strange that it just skipped 26.4.1 and went straight to 26.5.1 beta.

2 weeks ago is after March 11! 😉 KDK 26.4 is newer than KDK 26.4 beta 4, also on Dortania! Just have a proper look to the publication dates of Dortania!

You're right. I'm blind and missed that part entirely. But why the hell are they displayed like this? :)) There's probably something I'm missing.

Anyway. It doesn't matter anyway. Everything fine with OCLP-3.0.0 and KDK 25E246.

While we're talking about Dortania's KDK mirror, could someone double-check something?  It appears to me that Apple released KDK 15.7.4, but the Dortania KDK mirror did not pull KDK 15.7.4.  Am I seeing things?

I just noticed that Apple spelled Kernel wrong

Good catch @deeveedee - as Apple indeed labeled the package as “Kernal Debug Kit”, this could explain why the KDK for 26.4.1 (build 25E253) has not appeared in the Dortania KdkSupportPkg.

Notably, this apparent typo is present both in the metadata description and in the actual package name, which could interfere with automated detection or matching logic.

I just contacted Apple Support and wrote a feedback to Apple.

However, this might not fully explain the situation, as the KDK for macOS 15.7.4 is also missing from the repository, even though “Kernel Debug Kit” is spelled correctly there. 🤔

I am finding that Tahoe 26.4.x and 26.5 performance gets much better following a waiting period after the initial boot and login. I'm now in the habit of letting Tahoe sleep instead of shutting down, so that I don't experience the startup lags associated with Tahoe. I'm now using Tahoe as my "production" macOS on multiple platforms (with and without graphics dGPU) and performance is very good.

I haven't noticed macOS 26.4.1 being any more sluggish than 26.3.1. In fact, it feels much more responsive after booting into Safe Mode once, and it also handles waking from sleep better.
I've fixed a typo made by Apple in the name of Kernel Debug Kit 26.4.1 build 25E253 in my repository. Enjoy! No need to thank me.

I should hope not.  You have a 12th gen i7 with 64GB 3200MHz RAM and an RX 5700XT. ;)
