I've been trying to install OS X on my PC for days and days now, but it just doesn't seem to work. I've tried a LOT of kernels (b8, b9, s5, default mach_kernel, mach_kernel.mifki - you name it) and JAS' latest versions of 10.4.8 and 10.4.6. I've tried both VMWare and native. I've been searching and reading this forum for many, many hours.

VMWare either throws a kernel stack fault or hangs after some ACPI stuff and then waits for the root device. When going native, it either resets the PC (probably the same stack fault) or freezes at some other point (not ACPI related, though). No matter what, it just won't install.

I'm running the eVGA 680i motherboard with an Intel E6300 CPU and two SATA drives. Since the chipset is fairly new, I figured it might not be supported, yet. Thus, if there's anyone that has successfully set up OS X on an 680i board, please let me know :(

I have the new ASUS P5N-E SLI mobo (650i) and I can get to the install part, but it gives an error message which says there 's an installation error.

My keyboard does not work yet, going to get a USB one tommorow.

I followed the process given by wmarsh, but i modified some steps. If you need me to write a howto, let me know, I will write one for you guys.

I am going to try and implement Ac97 driver and a ethernet driver as soon as I can get my keyboard to work. Strangely keyboard does not work even in the single version mode ( damn Apple ), i love my keyboard ( old microsoft keyboard, ps2 )
