@Montelli My solution for the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini with Radeon RX560x shows that you can use both iGPU and dGPU for displays.  I don't have your motherboard, so you'll need to experiment.  If my results are any indication of what you should expect then you would need to do the following:

  • Choose the appropriate frame buffer for your iGPU (not headless)
  • Make sure that your iGPU is enabled in BIOS
  • You may need to set your iGPU as the boot display in BIOS

I've set it up like this in BIOS, it's right? 448925493_842977907234098_1947595144113411337_n.thumb.jpg.ddf5e087f11d301063b1f62b44174e33.jpg

Do I just need to set up buffer now? How do I set it up?

Thank you @deeveedee

@Montelli I don't have your motherboard, so you'll need to experiment.  You can review my thread here to see how I implemented my solution and then extrapolate to your own hack.

U need to use ur monitor in AMD GPU only. IGPU stay only for hardware accel, don't connect any monitor on IGPU.

So maybe I'm getting confused 🤔... What did @MaLd0n mean with iGPU will only work for hardware acceleration? When would the iGPU be activated?

I would like an example, please

I'm trying to assess whether to keep the integrated GPU for hardware acceleration and choose a new AMD GPU with 4 ports... I remember that AMD compatibility is native... so it's assured that if I install an AMD GPU with 4 ports, I'll be able to use 4 monitors? @MaLd0n @deeveedee

My thread shows that Radeon dGPU video ports and Intel iGPU video ports can be enabled at the same time without needing to make the Intel iGPU configured as headless.

You'll need to experiment to determine whether the dual-GPU solution works with your motherboard. If dual-GPU does work, it gives you another option. Your choice.

Okok, I got it, it's all clear. Now I'm considering option keeping integrated GPU for hardware acceleration and adding a new AMD GPU...

and what I was wondering is, I remember that AMD GPUs are native, so if I install an AMD GPU with 4 ports, I can definitely use 4 monitors to extend the desktop, right ?

@Montelli I have seen macOS's Radeon Framebuffers with as many as 6 connectors, so I think 4 displays are possible.  I have not tested and would prefer hearing from  someone else who knows with certainty.

EFI Montelli.zip

-Delete old EFI folder and paste new. Don't use merge files
-Don't use Drag and Drop into EFI partition. Use Copy/Paste instead
-Reset NVRAM one time - with OpenCore use entry "Reset Nvram" / with Clover use F11 key on boot screen

Sorry @MaLd0n I think I got confused earlier, and now AMD GPU ports are not working anymore... I tried deleting EFI folder and pasting yours again, but they still don't work.

Is BIOS setting correct? 448310346_489504930149887_6098571752107078242_n(1).thumb.jpg.24db95eef84718e17f7a6145a5fa6e35.jpg

@MaLd0n I can't understand why, but PC starts with internal Gpu and not with AMD, so I suppose that hardware acceleration is not working either... I tried again to delete EFI folder and paste one you created for me and I reset the NVRAM, but still nothing... Attaching iReg report and these are current bios settings:

I'm waiting for your response

Thank you

Ok,  AMD works.. and I had to use a combination 🫠... I entered the BIOS with the HDMI connected to iGPU and then I set primary display to PCIE and before saving and restarting I connected monitor to AMD displayPort. This way, upon reboot, AMD and macOS started correctly.

@MaLd0n Now, which AMD GPU do you recommend for using 4 monitors? Could I use AMD RX 580 or there is a list of compatible GPU??

Thank you

Look for Dortania GPU Buyers Guide but RX 580 is a valid option.

One moment please....

There are plenty of fake RX580 from aliexpress which has device-id=0x6fdf instead of good 0x67df. These cards poorly supported in macOS. Reflash BIOS may help.

In that case I would choose an Asus AMD 580,
but If I wanted to buy a newer AMD GPU (with four ports to extend four monitors) which one should I choose for my setup?

Thank you for your response
