After weeks of reading through the Tahoe source code, trying different approaches and finally optimising the code for speed and reliability, I'm proud to publish the first test version of IntelLucy (version 1.1.5 build 1.1.549), which is fully compatible with AppleVTD under Tahoe. Speed and reliability tests have been successfully completed on my test machine with and without AppleVTD, so that I think that it's time to share the results of my work with you. Good luck testing!

Here is version 1.1.5 (build 1.1.552) of IntelLucy, which fixes some bugs of the latest build. I have installed this build on my production systems now, because it has passed all speed and stability tests. Have fun!

I didn’t notice any bugs or flaws with 1.1.549 either. 🙃 Everything has worked perfectly right from the beginning of the 1.1.5 release. Many thanks again for all your hard work and the support we’re receiving from your side! 💫

@Mieze, one minor issue though 🙃.. Under Sequoia 15.7.2 and 15.7.3, there are minor connectivity issues of IntelLucy 1.1.552 on my system, occasionally not connecting to Ethernet directly after boot, with or without AppleVTD enabled. At some point, however it always successfully connects to Ethernet and stays connected.

Did not check 1.1.549 under Sequoia previously. Under Tahoe 26.2, IntelLucy 1.1.552 continues working flawlessly with and without AppleVTD enabled. This just as a feedback from my testing of IntelLucy 1.1.552 on my system. 👍

@KGP-iMacPro This is not a bug, it's the flapping link recovery procedure. When the link is lost in less than 3 seconds after a link up event, a flapping link event is assumed and the PHY is powered down for 5 seconds to recover from that situation. After that the PHY is powered up again to reestablish the link. This procedure takes about 10 seconds, so that there is a noticeable delay until the network is available.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the reason of the flapping link issue. Maybe I'll have to compare the driver source from the linux kernel, which my code is based on, with Intel's driver source code.

@Mieze, there is actually a simple solution: on Tahoe, I use IntelLucy 1.1.5, which works flawlessly with AppleVTD enabled or disabled. For Sequoia, I simply use version 1.1.3, which also works flawlessly with AppleVTD enabled or disabled.

I intensified testing IntelLucy 1.1.5 with Sequoia, because I must confess, that this point has been neglected as I focused on Tahoe. As a result, I found some small problems, which have been fixed in the attached build 1.1.553.

@Mieze, I would say the remaining issue with Sequoia is almost resolved with version 1.1.553 and really minor. There is still a slight delay in Ethernet connectivity after boot and the login screen, but it is significantly shorter than with version 1.1.552 - now roughly 10 to 20 seconds. When disabling (“Make Inactive”) and re-enabling (“Make Active”) Ethernet, the delay is about 3 to 10 seconds. Connectivity is always 100% guaranteed. I performed several tests both with AppleVTD enabled and disabled. The behaviour is identical.

No issues at all under Tahoe 👍
