Hi, posted previously in the new users lounge, will try again here:

My regular OS is Linux, but I have set up a virtual Hackintosh for testing, and trying out Xcode IOS development.

So I need to pass an iPhone USB connection from Linux to the macOS guest.

I assume this has been done before, but I've failed to find an answer. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I added a new USB Device Filter in VirtualBox, but if that is enabled, Linux keeps connecting and disconnecting from the phone every 2 seconds, and it fails to attach to the VM.

I'm not familiar with UDEV, but suspect it just needs a UDEV rule to fix?

What about on the macOS side?  Anything special needed so it will see the iPhone once connected?

Finally, I see many posts here refer to VMware. Should I be using that instead of Virtualbox?

@quenda

I deleted your other post. please do not double post.

Thanks, I should have done that.

I only reposted as I did not have permission to post here before, and it appeared nobody knowledgeable on virtualisation was reading there.

I answered ziffter's question from months ago. I hope he has not given up on the task.
