Hi iam . I have a problem with my hackintosh, its the graphics. when i install hackintosh it supports only 1024x768 resolution, i have tried a lot of things but iam not getting a solution for it, but when i found some kexts related to my graphics, for example, #appleintel3000graphics, i immediately installed it, the problem i faced after installing graphics kext is it gets stuck in verbose mode and fails to boot into macos. just gets stuck as statue

My specifications : HP Probook 4330s; CPU_Intel Core i3-2350M; GPU_Intel Graphics 3000; native resolution of my display is 1366x768 and MY HACKINTOSH IS HACKINTOSH MOJAVE 10.14.1

PLEASE HELP ME, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, i tried this too. after installing that, i could not boot into hackintosh, it just stuck in verbose screen, for example

'IOSCREEN USERS 0x0 something like that

normally when the above statement shows up its just boots into macos

but after installing that patch it stuck after this statement

so please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my pc specifications :-

Ya i have noticed sometimes even in windows, logo which boots up that windows 10/8 logo it stretches but after booting my resolution is correct for my display

Apple dropped support for HD3000 in Mojave and later because it is not Metal compatible. You can still obtain OpenGL-only graphics acceleration under Mojave and Catalina if you patch your installation. In Mojave and Catalina up to 10.15.3, it's a fairly simple task of installing the SNB graphics kexts and replacing some frameworks. From Catalina 10.15.4, you have to use Dosdude1's patcher because the previous simple method no longer worked.

Chris1111's tool should have worked but if it did not, try the post-install graphics tuning process described here. I assume you run a full vanilla installation of course, not a distro of some sort. I would also recommend you update to the latest build of Mojave 10.14.6 before you proceed. You may also consider Dosdude1's Mojave patcher. See his site/repo.

Hi @Hervé

Thanks for the link. What was the "previous" method if i may ask, Chriss method?

I believe ( @Hervé can correct me if I'm wrong) that there is the method of @toleda (SNB), that of dosdude1 / @chris1111 and the one that @Hervé published in osxlatitude, from oldest to newest.

The "previous method" was the simple installation of missing kexts before frameworks replacement became required too, this subsequently insufficient from Catalina 10.15.4.

Thanks fo helping me but how i can update from 10.14.1 to 10.14.3 or 4

Why would you update to 10.14.3 or 10.14.4? Use a Mojave-compatible SMBIOS model, jut update to latest 10.14.6, then re-apply the patches.

IMHO it's better to install 10.13.6 which will support such graphics without patchers.

You can install 10.13.1 and then update it to 10.13.6

Sorry for the strong statement but it would be totally stupid to apply the HD3000 patches for Mojave/Catalina to High Sierra.

As Slice wrote, High Sierra natively supports HD3000 graphics and it's the last macOS version to officially do so (from initial 10.13 build to last security update of 10.13.6). Mojave and Catalina don't have any HD3000 drivers so the HD3000 patches (whether the manual method or Chris1111 tool which does nothing else but automatically run the process for you) install the drivers of High Sierra 10.13.6's origin but also re-instate OS-specific frameworks in the case of Catalina. Running Chris1111's tool on High Sierra would likely screw the installed OS, so don't !

All you need -and nothing else- for HD3000 graphics on a LoRes Sandy Bridge laptop is this:

  1. MacBookPro8,1 SMBIOS
  2. inject SNB property AAPL,snb-platform-id set to 00000100 (i.e. hex value 0x00010000) against your iGPU at PCIe I/O location 00020000, i.e. PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0).

Don't hesitate to consult the Whatevergreen user manual for details. Of course, you'll probably find that HD3000 is buggy at times (with horizontal black/blue/white lines across the screen) but there are not fixes or workarounds, you have to live with this.

If you want to install High Sierra, stay way from evil distros that bring nothing but trouble and download 10.13.6 directly. It's readily available off Apple's web site!

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/macos-high-sierra/id1246284741?ls=1&mt=12

The same principles would apply to Mojave or Catalina of course but these will require a little tuning on top of the HD3000 patches:

  • both are available off Apple's web site:
  • Sandy Bridge MacBookPro8,1 having been dropped in Mojave and later, you need to either change SMBIOS to a supported one (say MacBookPro9,2) or use boot-arg -no_compat_check to install Mojave/Catalina. Latter option will prevent your Hack from being offered updates. As such, you may use MBP9,2 SMBIOS and update to last Mojave or Catalina Security update and switchback to MBP8,1 + -no_compat_check given that latter SMBIOS is usually required for proper CPU power management
  • Once you've installed the last update, proceed with the HD3000 patches.
  • Note that, from Catalina 10.15.4, you'll need the dosdude1's patcher as patching the OS for unsupported graphics got really complex. As such, you may want to stick to Mojave 10.14.6, especially as it will last be updated in the fall before Apple stop supporting it.

i'll first install macos high sierra and fix graphics issues for 3000 graphics and upgrade to big sur will that be right

No, after the update you have to fix 3000 graphics new way.

No HD3000 graphics fixes expected to be required with High Sierra; as stated several times before, HD3000 is natively supported in High Sierra.
