sometimes it's really funny, i never wanted to buy a mac. but i ever wanted to use osx. 3 month ago i installed the first time osx on my amd system. 2 weeks ago i wanted to buy a new laptop. and now... i'm setting up my new macbook pro 17" *gg*

strange life... i got what i wanted, but did something i never wanted but i'm really happy with it.

2800 euro, very fine hardware, the best design i ever saw, lots of features(my laptop has a remote control... strange)

from other you get only {censored} for this price with a plastic case and nothing inside.

Totally agreed. My 15" MBP showed up two days ago and IT PWNS!!! Only complaint so far is that the cursor acceleration is weird and now I have to re-learn how to micro in Warcraft. :rolleyes:

People complain about Macs being overpriced... maybe a bit but look what you get for the money! :D

i had a few problems with windows the last days. the good thing is that i learned a lot about the differences between an intel mac and an pc.

with the new firmware efi has an bios emulation, but this is not the problem.

for me the biggest difference is gpt. what is gpt, the next generation of partition tables.

here the facts(correct me if there's something wrong):

windows xp does not support gpt, only mbr.

macosx supports and forces gpt, but supports also mbr.

linux(ubuntu 6.10, gparted) normally supports mbr, but if you use it on efi systems it supports and forces gpt. the problem is that in this case it wouldn't do mbr entries on the harddisk. so windows see only one big partition.

the whole system is downgradeable. that means you can create a mbr partition synchronise it and see it also as gpt partition. the big danger is to cross gpt and mbr partitions. so the best is to create all partitions with windows as mbr and synchronize it then.

gpt

* more than 4 primary partitions

* no extended partitions

* optimzed for efi boot

mbr

* max 4 primary or 3 primary and 1 extended(with 4 logical) partitions

* optimized for bios boot, with and activation(boot) flag

i tried it for a few days and now i know howto install windows without problems and boot camp :censored2:

but this ill post into another thread.

link will be here when its finished.
