amadeusex
Hey guys - how are you holding up? Because of a lot of free time and after abandoning the idea to get Catalina installed i tried to run Mojave on my beloved z820v2. Everything went fine except power management. I've used @WoodCabin's EFI folders to install and later on run Mojave (14.6). Here's a glimpse of what i get as soon as i put the patched (from 10.13 as suggested on stinga's X79 power management topic) AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext into S/L/E I tried also @stinga11 s kext patches for Mojave but still either PM's not working or KP. Here's my my EFI folder@antonio.clb Edited November 12, 2020 by amadeusex Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/345693-mojave-146-dual-xeon-e5-2687w-v2-power-management/ Share on other sites
antonio.clb
I think it's time to wrap things up and switch to OC... As far as I remember, I've no S/L/E patched files anymore but my CPUs are the "easy" ones (E5-2680 v2)... If you have time, give it a shot here: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/config-HEDT/ivy-bridge-e.html#starting-point and here: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/universal/pm.html#sandy-and-ivy-bridge-power-management Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/345693-mojave-146-dual-xeon-e5-2687w-v2-power-management/#findComment-2743717 Share on other sites
amadeusex
I've managed to get PM working - I suspect an .efi file which when removed PM started to work. I've tried to transfer the clover configuration to an existing Mojave installation but didn't succeed. It works with a fresh install though. I even got PM working from the USB Installer. Some people over at stinga11's thread about PM on HighSierra and Mojave mentioned that with an existing and working SSDT no patch at all was needed to get PM to work in Mojave. My EFI folder for z820 dual Xeon E52687v2 3.94 Bios I'm still a bit confused about what really made PM to work. Every attempt to patch AICPUPM kext in S/L/E did cause the above mentioned kernel trap error. Reinstalling Mojave on top (as a repair measure) and rebooting with the USB-Installer Clover configuration (which i did overwrite with the one from the SSD) did finally the job. Now the funny thing is that i had some patches for AICPUPM in the clover config.plist which were disabled except for one. The first (from two) MSR-lock patches. I've since then booted with all the patches disabled and even rebuilt the kextcaches to be on the safe side so the patch might not be significant at all. antonio.clb
Great news! I'm pretty sure that, with this working SSDT and DSDT, you can try a Catalina or even big sur install with OpenCore... Give it a shot with my EFI folder (already sent in other thread) and let us know! Best regards and happy hackintoshing! I really need so far only Mojave in order to use the latest software i need but Big Sur doesn't look so bad either. I'm a bit lost when it comes to OpenCore - there's again a lot of new stuff to learn, but hey lockdown and and a lot of free time are in favour. I'll let You know ho it goes.
